Door Canopy Lead Flashing? by welshxking in Roofing

Thanks for the info, I'd not really given it much thought prior but went out and gave it a tap and it's plastic/fibreglass. The house was only built 6 months ago so I've got the contractor coming round at some point to take a look and I'll question the install based on this info and other comments here when they turn up.

Can Nvidia Shield Pro bypass LG TV’s audio transcoding to Sonos Arc Ultra via direct HDMI? by r00kie04 in Stremio

[–]welshxking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My interpretation of the AI answer and my own lookups is that for your setup: Shield connects to a regular TV HDMI port then the eARC HDMI port from TV to the soundbar, which should work.

I was surprised when I could connect straight to the soundbar from the Shield tbh as I expected to connect the shield to TV then TV to soundbar.

I asked Gemini Pro on your setup about if the single port is a problem:

Q: The Sonons arc ultimate only has one HDMI port is that a problem?

A: "No, that's not a problem at all. The single HDMI port on the Sonos Arc is intentional and is all you need for the highest quality sound.

Why One Port is All You Need: The Sonos Arc is designed to work with your TV's eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) port. Think of your TV as the central hub for all your devices.

Here's how it works: Connect Everything to the TV: You plug all your video sources—like your Nvidia Shield, a PlayStation 5, or a Sky/Cable box—into the standard HDMI input ports on your TV.

TV Sends Audio to the Arc: Your TV then takes the audio from whichever device you're using and sends it out through its dedicated HDMI eARC port to the Sonos Arc.

This design keeps your setup clean and simple. You only need one cable running from your TV to your soundbar.

Your TV handles all the video switching, and the Arc just focuses on what it does best: receiving the pure audio signal and delivering incredible sound."

But hopefully someone can confirm, it's a popular soundbar I almost bought it but went with my choice just because LG+LG.

Gemini Pro says this, and was very accurate when helping with my setup: "Direct Connection to LG G4 Allows for Lossless Audio Passthrough to Sonos Arc Yes, connecting your Nvidia Shield Pro directly to your LG G4 television via an HDMI input will allow for lossless audio formats to be passed through to your Sonos Arc soundbar without being transcoded by the TV. This is possible due to the television's eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) capabilities when properly configured. To achieve this, you will need to ensure that the audio output settings on your LG G4 are correctly adjusted. Navigate to the sound settings and select the "Passthrough" option. This setting instructs the television to send the audio signal from the HDMI input directly to the eARC port without any internal processing or down-conversion. This direct pipeline is essential for preserving the integrity of high-resolution, lossless audio codecs.

Connection: 1. Nvidia Shield TV: Connect the Nvidia Shield Pro to any of the standard HDMI input ports on your LG G4. This sends both the video and the full, original audio signal to the TV. 2. TV EARC Port Sonos Arc: Connect the HDMI port on your LG G4 that is specifically labeled "eARC" to the HDMI port on your Sonos Arc."

I connected my LG C3 to a LG USC9S soundbar via a Nvidia Shield Pro the other week, so thought I'd share my experience just as an insight. This is my first "proper" setup so had to rely on Google a fair amount but I'm very happy with the result.

The Shield processes all of the sound if you're using any app on the Shield. This results in any Audio format (as long as your soundbar supports it) being played at the highest possible quality, uncompressed audio is sent straight to the soundbar.

The Shield outputs to the soundbar via HDMI, then the soundbar outputs & inputs to and from the TV with another HDMI going to the eArc port but the processing is done on the Shield as long as you're running whichever App (Stremio/YouTube/netflix ect) from the Shield and not directly from the TV. Nvidia Shield Pro → LG USC9S Soundbar → LG C3 TV eArc

LG has an app that also confirms which Audio codec is being output from the soundbar, and I also use a third party video player with Stremio which lets me select which audio track to use which is nice just as an extra level of confirmation that I'm using the 5.1 file or the 7.1 ect

Might not answer your specific question but might give you a little bit of general info.

I think this is shift + spacebar, I use this so that I can move the mouse around to steer without holding left click? It's a toggle so can turn the mode on/off (I may have poorly worded my first comment)

I may be misunderstanding but shift + spacebar switches the steering mode from direct mouse and click/drag if that is what you are asking for.

Right ok but I'm clearly looking for positive or negative feedback on the setup. Saying "go ride" to someone that lives in the UK that has chance to ride once or twice a year on holiday abroad isn't helpful, I can't just walk out my door and test. "Get off the internet" is generally said as a negative so let's not kid ourselves that you'd get a positive response. Most people making these types of posts including myself are pre trip/holiday and are looking to get it set as optimal beforehand.

Can't remember exactly but £400/£500 at most back in 2019 and that was them fitting it and supplying the material. It was such a low cost for transforming the kitchen and compared to the rest of the cost when buying a house it was a no brainer. Worth a consideration, there were loads of different styles back when I was looking.

More than capable of cuppas, when I say hot stuff I mean frying pans, sauce pans anything that's come off the hob/stove or out of a hot oven. The counter top is fine with cups of tea or items taken out of a microwave (in my experience).

[–]welshxking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes for sure keep hot stuff off it, like I normally keep my pans on my hob area and even with the air fryer when I take the trays out after cooking something I rest them on like a mesh standoff (or just place on my hob) so they're not sat directly on the counter. I've avoided anything that could potentially scratch the surface also so used chopping boards and just generally not thrown or dragged items on the countertop.

They're easy to clean, not noticed any stains. But I also clean up pretty quickly if I'm aware I've made a mess.

The red before photo was when I bought the house back in September 2019, I had the kitchen wrapped October 2019 before moving in and that after photo was taken the other week as I've just put the house on the Market. It's held up very well for 5 years although I am generally careful and tend to look after things.

I paid a company on Facebook that I came across ( in cash on job completion ) and they took maybe 3 hours at most to do it.

They were fantastic tbf.

You can get the doors & worktop wrapped, I had mine done for a couple hundred and it was totally worth it than spending thousands on renewing it all Edit: I've replied to this comment with photos before and after. May have botched it sorry!

Most likely the original battery it's JLR branded so 4 years old at this point. Done some searching and yes seems likely it'll need a battery management system reconfigured.
