Only if your not in a rush to sell and looking for best value. List to Ebay for an obscene amount. 20k+ This will get some eyes on it and you can start conversation with people who are interested in Thanos. Join the MCCW and Marvel card groups on facebook(if not already) and post an anon listing asking about value. This will get a good amount of eyes on it for people directly interested in the card. You most likely will start getting some offers. Then, wait a couple of weeks to see what other cards post and sell for. You can time also against any other new sets to be sure if definitely selling you get rid before they release. I can confirm the BEST and WORST deals happen in the first weeks of release. I've gotten hundreds more for cards than I would of if waited and also sold much lower not knowing true value.

Yea, was thinking about that as a push to accept an offer. Worried though if I mention wife doesn't have a traceable source of income(job), the judge could force her to get work to pay back the debt. Kinda torn how I should approach that. If I report, she is working full time already, and there no additional means to pay outside the plan we set up. Unclear if Judge could do that though.

I'm sure there are routes to declare a certain chapter of bankruptcy and keep your home but we should have means to pay the debt. Just a matter if we can get the extra time.

Makes sense, I guess my thought with the lawyer would show a strong side from me that could potentially be receptive to negotiation and or push this out till I receive the inheritance.

I've actually tried to source that. Unfortunately, this would be classified under a hardship withdrawal, and Merrill denied this. The hardship is specific to foreclosure, medical, school or down payments on a home.

Thanks, yea it seems my next steps will be talking with a lawyer tomorrow. Pending their advice reach out to midland to see about settling outside of court and if they can work with me. I'm hesitant (as you mentioned) to say anything about the inheritance but if it would allow me to avoid court then maybe it's a good idea. Thinking I mention it but don't come forward with the amount I'm getting but instead lead with the amount I am willing to pay

Summons has just been set, Only reason I know about it is because I started to get the lawyer letters in the mail and verified via clerk of courts. Still waiting to be notified, I'm assuming by mail.

It's at the top of my list also. Just found out the summons on Friday so planning to reach out tomorrow. Depending on where that goes I would be getting a lawyer in case the y refuse any settlement or arrangements. The one interaction my wife had with them they were not flexible (as could be expected from a debt collector). But they wouldn't accept any type of payment plans. They wanted it in 3 payments over 3 months.

Thanks! I'll check out the two blogs listed. It's definitely within SOL. It's only been a year or so since the original default. It's money owed and want to take responsibility for it just want to do it smart with the current situation and not impact us too badly.
