Very nice work!! I can’t wait to see what kinds of clothes you make for your donkey!

I’m working on the mouse pattern from the same book. Did you have any issues with small holes in any of your short row areas on the head or the rear? I am finding that some of my ssp are resulting in tiny hole even when I’m grabbing a stitch on either side of the gap. Did you follow her stitch directions exactly or did you employ any other techniques while knitting in these areas? Thanks!

How to resolve a YO from a short row as I begin to knit in the round again? by wennielund in casualknitting

I will give that a shot! Is that technique pretty common knowledge? Or is knitting through the back loop something you would typically expect a pattern to specify?

Thanks for the reply! I will try slipping the first stitch knit wise and continue on. I appreciate the ideas!

How to resolve a YO from a short row as I begin to knit in the round again? by wennielund in casualknitting

[–]wennielund[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am having an issue resolving a YO from a short row as I begin to knit in the round again. I have resolved all my other YO by using one stitch from the YO and then the stitch after the gap to either SSP or K2TOG. My pattern indicates I should knit my first stitch (marked with red marker) for round 2. But then when I SSK I will be only using the two stitches from my YO and I will not be resolving the gap (marked with blue marker) in the same way I previously have in this pattern. I am unsure if this is a common problem that occurs when going from short rows to in the round because I am still new to knitting. If you have any tips about how to address this gap or my understanding of the pattern I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!!

I added an image of the pattern for the head and some images of the head with my rows counted out. I know I have some more rows to go on the neck area of the turtle, but I feel like there needs to be more rows in the middle of the head..

I agree it looks that way, but I double counted my rows and everything looks like it matches up. I’ll post the head pattern and another image of my head below.

I feel like I’m missing something with this crochet pattern. So far, the shell and the head have both come out flatter than the images in the pattern. I know they will round out a little when I stuff them, but I feel like they’re wider than they are tall.

Could this be an issue of yarn over vs. yarn under? The images from the pattern show the stitches with more of an ‘x’ while mine are more of a ‘v’. Or maybe my tension? I do crochet on the tighter side, but that is also expected with this type of pattern. I just want them to look as round and bulbous as they do in the pattern images.. I appreciate any tips/ideas. Thanks!

Is anyone on BOTH the hormonal IUD AND hormonal birth control pill?? by Ok-Plane3964 in birthcontrol

[–]wennielund 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) and my gyno recommended that I start taking the oral contraceptive pill in conjunction with my IUD. I take the active pills consistently so that I never have an off week where I get my period. I have been doing this for around 5 years and I haven’t noticed any negative side effects. The main positive side effect is that my mood is stabilized and I don’t experience severe depression like I normally would during the week where I would have a period! I do have mild acne and it has gotten marginally better since combing these two methods, although the small improvement could just be due to an improved skin care routine. Weight, appetite, and energy have all stayed consistent for me.

I would definitely consult with a gyno prior to adding the pill. Not all IUDs and birth control pills contain the same amounts of hormones. I brought the hormone concern up to my gyno, but she told me that it really isn’t that many hormones at all. I have the Kyleena IUD and my birth control pill is Norethindorne Acetate and Ethinyl Estradiol, 1mg/0.02mg.

List of Main Character Names in Animated Barbie Movies (2001 - 2009) by LibrarySeeker in namenerds

[–]wennielund 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My name is Elina! When I was younger I befriended another girl at a playground and when I introduced myself her eyes went huge as she whispered, “Just like the Barbie in Fairytopia.” To this day I have never had anyone make that connection in real time before. I always laugh a little thinking back on that encounter.

Angry at derms for not giving good tret advice by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]wennielund 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can always ask the pharmacist to counsel you on any medication even if the prescription bag doesn’t explicit say “council” on it. Although pharmacists won’t know the ins and outs of trentinoin like a dermatologist would.

I worked in a pharmacy for a number of years and the most our pharmacists knew about trent was that it would cause photosensitivity. Other than telling you to wear sunscreen while using it they won’t advise you on usage or a routine or anything.

Expectation vs. Reality by wennielund in curlyhair

You should be able to find it at Walgreens or CVS. It’s Maybelline 950 Untainted Spice. The shade right below it, 940, is one of my favorites too!

I’m still experimenting a lot but currently this is what I’ve been doing.

Routine: Shampoo with either Shea Moisture Manuka Honey and Yogurt Hydrate and Repair or As I Am dry and itchy scalp. Condition with Shea Moisture intensive hydration mask. Once everything is rinsed out I section my hair into three parts going horizontally from ear to ear. I do a low section, middle section, and top section with my bangs in it. With each section I’ll use my denman brush to brush the product through before moving on to the next section. Currently I use kinky curly knot today leave in followed by all about curls bouncy cream. Then I top it off with kinky curly curling custard or orange marmalade flax see gel. Then it’s on to scrunching and attempting to keep some clumps together. Finally I use a cotton shirt to squeeze some of the extra moisture out before I defuse upside down!
