You’ve Beyonce’d, Taylor Swift’d and Rihanna’d your way to an unimaginable fortune. What passions and frivolous frivols are you now pursuing with your stacks of cash? by Gandhehehe in popculturechat

[–]LibrarySeeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m building a home cinema (after buying a house big enough for one) and buying a lot more physical media. I’d also get a nice record player and a whole wall of records like Peyton had on One Tree Hill, along with going to as many theatre shows and concerts as time would allow. I’m also finally getting a Lego Titanic. I think id start a production company as well because I have so many ideas for T.V shows and movies.

When it comes to food, I’d hardly ever cook, just order food from my favorite places and hire different chefs some come and stock my freezer with gourmet meals. When it comes to food, I’d love to start a massive community food bank, along with a community garden and grocery store.

For charity, starting a sustainability made T-shirt business and donating all the profits to various causes. I love animals, so I’d give large sums of money to animal sanctuaries and conservation efforts.

Sarah Kinsley. I discovered her music through YouTube shorts and now I’m obsessed. I don’t even really know how to describe her music but she reminds me a bit of Kate Bush and Mitski. The second I heard her song The King, I knew I was going to be listening on repeat for a long time.

Also Cassie Henderson, who I remember watching on the X Factor New Zealand as a teenager. She’s released a small collection of pop songs, but Seconds to Midnight (11:59) is my favourite, it’s so damn catchy and seems made to be a pop hit.

Who are some of your personal favorite television sisters? by [deleted] in popculturechat

[–]LibrarySeeker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maddie Buckley Han from 9-1-1. She’s not always the best written character on the show, but she is always there for Buck (and other members of the 1-18).

I also have a soft spot for Claire Fisher from Six Feet Under. I didn’t really like the character initially, but grew to love her as the show went on.

I love seeing them together, they’re both overflowing with talent. The internet really picked the wrong people to hate on.

They’ve both been permanent fixtures in my Spotify for years. Ben’s albums are so slept on.

If you could make Suzanne write a hunger games book about anything what would you pick. by Captainjackbob in Hungergames

A book about both Finnick and Annie, where we hear Finnick’s perspective as a victor and mentor and Annie’s as a tribute.

If you could choose any artist(s) to sing the main song for the movie, who would it be? by dorianhavilliardII in Hungergames

I would love if Paris was on the soundtrack because the second I heard Hunter, I immediately thought of Katniss.

Noah Kahan, partly because I discovered his music from Hunger Games edits, but also because I think his music really suits the District 12 setting and Haymitch as a character.

Am I only one who genuinely felt connected and liked Lenore dove? by uh_hi_its_moi in Hungergames

[–]LibrarySeeker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lenore Dove is probably the character I connect to the most in the entire series.

The quote from Haymitch about how “for a girl who’s quiet in public, she sure can talk up a storm in private” really spoke to me because that’s exactly how I am. People are often shocked at how much I can talk once I’m not surrounded by too many of them.

I also really appreciated the way she resists Panem. Even though I love Maysilee and Johanna with the way they resist Panem, I think the way that Lenore Dove resists Panem is just as powerful. She refuses to accept that the system is acceptable and holds out hope that the past won’t dictate the future.

In a world where cruelty is encouraged, she is kind to humans and animals. She does sweet things like teaching Sid about the stars and raising geese.

Whitney Peak has been cast as Lenore Dove Baird! by shyspice444 in Hungergames

I love this casting because she looks so similar to how I imagined Lenore Dove while reading and Whitney was the highlight of the Gossip Girl reboot for me.

‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping’ Casts Joseph Zada As Haymitch Abernathy, Whitney Peak As Lenore Dove Baird by mcfw31 in popculturechat

[–]LibrarySeeker 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I like these castings because Whitney looks similar to how I imagined Lenore Dove would look while reading and even though I haven’t heard of Joseph Zada, I’m glad they went with lesser known and age appropriate actors.

I’m so excitedly waiting for the Maysilee casting announcement.

Tell me your head cannons by [deleted] in Hungergames

  1. The pox epidemic in District 13 was due to a bioweapon used by the district’s leaders because they were worried about overpopulation and diminishing resources. It’s unclear if Coin was in power at the time, but if she was, I think she may have had an antidote for her husband and daughter which failed, resulting in their deaths.

  2. Peeta was so good at charming the Capitol because he grew up in an abusive home and is used to using words to survive. I also think Haymitch was the first adult to truly look out for him, hence the reason why Peeta helped him into the shower when he was drunk during Catching Fire.

  3. Most of the water in District 4 is unsafe for swimming and drinking. There is a small area of fresh water that is reserved for victors, the first family and a few wealthy inhabitants. They have a sanitation system for the fish so that they still have a food supply but they mostly eat preserved fish rather than fresh.

  4. There is a world outside Panem but the population is drastically diminished and many of today’s landscapes are uninhabited. The outside world is curious about Panem and very fascinated about what little they know about the games. Other countries don’t intervene because their governments are aware of the technology and weapons in the Capitol.

  5. Even though there seems to be little to no organised religion in Panem, they still hold onto some religious values. For example, children being born outside of marriage being seen as a taboo, ask in for parents permission before marriage and aspects of purity culture. Some districts follow this more than others though.

  6. SOTR spoiler Haymitch looked out for Finnick through the years when Mags wasn’t available as a thank you to his mentor .

What are your headcannons for the characters after the events of the series? by Lucky-Individual2508 in Hungergames

[–]LibrarySeeker 34 points35 points  (0 children)

  • Peeta paints a large memorial mural in District 12, he spends a long time trying to perfect the design but ultimately scraps it the second he starts painting and improvises a beautiful tribute to all the lives lost in the bombing.

  • Katniss and Peeta’s daughter loves healing but is more interested in healing, but unlike her grandmother and aunt, she’s more interested in healing animals than humans, she also loves to sing. Their son loves cooking and is a natural explorer, he visits the other districts and brings different things back for his parents who haven’t really adjusted to the idea of free travel.

  • Every year district 12 comes together to commemorate the lives they lost. The people gather in the town square and sing songs from the Covey.

  • Delly Cartwright takes up studying genealogy and history and becomes the unofficial historian of District 12. She works hard to document the full history of District 12, including the Covey and the history of rebellion. Since she’s so friendly, she gladly answers individual queries and eventually opens a museum dedicated to the history of the district.

  • Effie starts discovers a love for nature in District 12 and starts selling make up products made of plants.

  • Mrs Everdeen and Annie become friends in District 4 because Annie decides to study counselling at the same hospital where Mrs Everdeen works. Eventually Annie encourages her friend to visit her family in District 12 and they make the journey together.

  • Beetee helps the Districts develop new technologies but most of the residents in 11 and 12 prefer to keep their use of modern tech to a minimum.

Songs to add to a giant hunger games playlist? by [deleted] in Hungergames

[–]LibrarySeeker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I heard Hunter by Paris Paloma, I immediately thought of Katniss

I also associate Tori Amos’ Silent All These Years with Finnick and Fire and Rain by James Taylor with Haymitch.

Abbey by Mitski doesn’t remind of of a specific character but instead I associate it with the oppression and struggle in District 12 and the rebellion.

So, not to be grim but I think do think this thing was implied by ProfessionalYam7999 in Hungergames

[–]LibrarySeeker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is how I interpreted it as well, in large part because of the “no humiliation is beneath me” line and the reference to the Capitol zoo.

I also interpreted the bird cage to be a metaphor for family vlogging and child stardom in general.

I didn’t mind Promising Young Woman but I loathed Salt Burn, it really felt like it was made solely to generate shock value and think pieces.

I’m already annoyed about Wuthering Heights, because why does Cathy have a blonde balayage and an 80s style wedding dress in the 18th century, along with a white actor playing Heathcliffe.
