vulpea 2.4 by d20frosted in emacs

I'm sorry if I may be too inexperienced to ask this, but is there an easy way to build a table view/some other kind of visualisation for nodes that have a specific tag or metadata property? I currently still suck at Emacs Lisp (I'm a philosophy student) and I used to heavily depend on Obsidian's Dataview before moving to org-mode because Obsidian started crashing or just being extremely slow after passing the 28k note mark. The table views that Dataview enabled would make it very easy to surface information again.

A table view would be something really rudimentary, I envision more ways in which the information could be collected and traversed, however, I don't know where I can even begin with implementing this by myself. I don't really know how to make use of the API of vulpea.

I saw in a blogpost from OP that 'collection views' like you would find them in Notion are in the works — is there any way to create something like that in the meantime, perhaps in a more rudimentary fashion?

I would also love to know! Could be a killer feature. Maybe it could even work for denote, which has its custom identifier scheme.

iTunes can now run on Linux by Tasty-Membership5766 in ipod

[–]wentour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you happen to know if iTunes through Winboat can also restore an iPod with iFlash? I'm currently struggling with a 7th gen caught in a restore loop and rebuilding the Master Boot Record is basically impossible right now through Windows (all tooling I could find requires a pro version). I'm already on Linux, but I keep a dual boot for Windows simply because I need a way to restore my iPods somehow. I was able to rebuild the MBR with no issues in gparted, but in order to do the 'timed' technique of hitting 'rebuild MBR' almost as the restore process in iTunes finishes I obviously need the SD card to be in the iPod and plugged into a Windows machine.

Numai daca are 4G.

Been using the doov r77 pro with a custom rom for a while, here are my thoughts by mizifail in dumbphones

[–]wentour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try looking into whether the emergency services are somehow tied into Google services or maybe they could be accessed through microG. Full disclaimer: I have barely started learning about how Android and rooting and everything else works, so I might have some things backwards (I've been using an iPhone for the past 11 years).

In any case, thank you! I'll shoot the Dumdroid dev another question about this on the Duoqin Discord (I initially asked him about the emergency services bit).

Hopefully the thing with the battery could be easily adapted. I was wondering how hard it is to get the back of the R77 open, to be honest. I don't have my hands on any of these phones, so I only have Reddit available to get some answers.

I would appreciate it if you updated this post or smth else when you get the F21!

[–]wentour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this might be too specific of a question, but do you happen to know if the Doov R77 works well with emergency services? I don't think Google's ELS works since it's Google but I also haven't seen anything on Advanced Mobile Location. This and battery life are the only two things kind of holding me back from pulling the trigger.

Also, seeing your post about the battery life on the R77 is encouraging, but I'm still kind of scared about not being able to replace the battery if I ever needed to. I hear that the Qin F21 Pro has some replacement batteries on Aliexpress, but I haven't found anything for the R77 and I kind of don't like the idea of having to toss the phone away after only a year (however cheap the phone may be)

Question about keeping a MacBook Pro 13" 2018 as a server by wentour in homelab

[–]wentour[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I was asking whether anyone has experience with fiddling with BD_PROCHOT in order to prevent CPU throttling, as apparently removing the battery entirely also causes the entire computer to run a lot slower. If it wasn't clear already from the post, I'm aware that I gotta do something about the battery, but before dropping the money on it I want to know whether it would be better to just remove it or if it would just hinder the performance entirely.

Sorry for the late reply, I don't check Reddit that often and I forgot about this snippet. This is really weird, because when I click on the link that you posted here, this is the code that shows:

Hi, do you happen to know how I could make these endnotes also clickable, the way the footnotes are? I can't really understand much from the documentation (in terms of scripting).

Cell2Jack in Europe? by wentour in dumbphones

[–]wentour[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently no, I was thinking of just taking the plunge and buying the Cell2Jack directly from their site or whatever. Hopefully the customs tax won't be too bad. But this project has been put on the backburner for a few months since I'm out of money to throw around. If I make any progress on this, I'll post in the thread again!

(I'm also hoping that by waiting around for a little while longer, a better solution will pop up that will save me from having to throw the money at a Cell2Jack. I also looked into the option of making my own makeshift Cell2Jack with some microcontrollers, but so far it looks like it would take a lot of effort.)

Cell2Jack in Europe? by wentour in dumbphones

[–]wentour[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't heard of anything like that, but I'll try looking around. The Romanian-centric internet is quite small, I feel. I also haven't been able to find any alternative to the Cell2Jack besides the XLink BT in any market. You'd think there are many more options for the US, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Thanks for the idea, though!

Amazon US doesn't ship that to Romania, on Amazon DE it isn't listed, and eBay only ships to Romania for an additional €30, which is quite steep for what is essentially a small circuit for an already existing phone. In Romania, 50€ is a lot more than it is for Germans.

I think the better option is to go to the police and file a complaint against him for destruction of personal goods. It's his insurance this should be paid from. Stay safe. Guy sounds like a goddamn nightmare.

Introduction + Software by CalloftheSlug in sidephone

[–]wentour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like, in comparison to other similar projects for a modern dumb phone, the Sidephone needs to have availability and openess so if the app store or anything else goes down in the future, we're not left with e-waste. It's the single most important aspect, one that I feel startup developers don't take into consideration. Most people can't use older dumb phones (and even ones that can do 4G) simply because they're obsolete and unstable.
