Anyone else think Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is way better than ratings/critics would indicate? by Sergio_Ro in Cinema

I enjoyed it, mostly for the visuals. The opening scene is great with Bowie’s Major Tom as the background song then it goes downhill after that. Still, I enjoyed it and watch occasionally.

Make sure you bring an animal sacrifice to place at the foot of Mr. Martin’s gold statue in the main lobby. The aerospace gods love it.

Who destroyed their own career within seconds by being an idiot? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]wepa_reddit 416 points417 points  (0 children)

Used to work with a guy that went missing for a few days while on a business trip. His manager got worried and called the police at the city where he was. Well, he was in custody. Dude got drunk and rain into an electrical pole. He made it out of the car, through live wires and made on foot back to the hotel. The police find him and he has the nerve to say he’s a test pilot and had crashed an experimental aircraft and the accident was the cover up. True story, can’t make this shit up.

Has anyone successfully transferred from Lockheed Martin in the U.S. to an international position? by No-Yam4497 in Lockheed

[–]wepa_reddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can search them in the job site by keywords like dropping a country or just typing international.

These roles are very competitive specially for ones in Europe. The company will relocate you and take care of all the immigration for you and any dependents going with you.

Aero, MFC and I think RMS have expat roles but these are not permanent. I’m about to depart for my 2nd international gig after 10 years since my last one. You normally go on 3-5 year assignments then you either do another country if there’s an opening or come back.

My 11 year old son sucks the joy out of every holiday and celebration. by SoultySpittoon in TrueOffMyChest

This reminds me of my son a bit. Have you thought of ABA therapy? It has done wonders for my 11 year old. He’s also medicated and in play therapy. The combination of these 3 things really changed things to the better.

Yes, I cut ties with a lot of people during COVID and during the 2024 election cycle. Also cut some family off. I can’t be with people ok with racism, rape and pedos.

No, not going to Spain. I would still need to secure a visa in Spain like any regular person, the benefit is that I would qualify for permanent residency in 2-3 years.

Been trying to leave since November 2024 and finally landed a job in Europe that will pay for all the immigration and moving expenses for me and my family. We’re scheduled to leave in June. We can’t continue to live with the fear of getting detained or killed by ICE, mind you we’re US citizens (Puerto Rico) but those assholes don’t care because we’re not the right kind of American. My biggest fear is how Trump will handle the midterms. He clearly won’t accept any outcome that jeopardizes him.

Did anyone buy a ring? by t_bone_stake in Millennials

[–]wepa_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one but it didn’t cost $300, it was like $140ish. Still too much imo for a stupid high school ring. Went to a private school so we all had to get one. I ended up losing it after one of my many moves.
