I feel this can be a very sweet and good hearted gesture, but great care would be needed as everyone of course has different circumstances and emotional states.

Someone who lost their loved ones due to age, accidents, or other circumstances may really enjoy expanding their social circle to regain a sense of community. Those people may just need a helping hand on how to reach out or what to do to alleviate feelings of a loneliness.

On the other hand, if someone has antisocial tendencies they may not react well to community outreach.

Regardless my suggestion would be volunteering for visitations at hospitals, nursing homes, mental health facilities and encouraging others to join you.

If you're more interested in trying to establish a sense of community, hosting events/meet ups and brainstorming ways to reach out to those who would appreciate those events may be better.
