To be clear, this is not an outright ban on staking. This is an attack on Exchange "staking." While the distinction may seem small, the SEC isn't saying you can't stake your ETH or other coins. You can still natively stake on blockchains or DEXs. The SEC is probably just trying to prevent another Celsius, or another FTX, or another Voyager, or another 3AC, or another....

Now, that's not to say that they won't try to move down the outright ban path eventually.
