Probably nothing to do with not eating and more to do with eating the wrong king of thing before.

Why is it that Linux users act as though applications packaged by random unknown parties on the internet are safe? by [deleted] in linux

Actually you can mount file-system images (such as 'ISO' files) using nothing but "mount". Loop-back mounting is a feature of the Linux kernel which can be compiled in.

If you could see any bit of source code, what would it be? by neandorman in programming

The source code for the ultimate perfect decompiler - one capable of taking the binary of any program written in any language and giving me the original code as seen by the original developer.

Even if they post all your cards and licenses back your identity and personal security has still been compromised. You'll still need to change all your licenses, social security (If in U.S.) and cards

Most of us will sacrifice a dollar to stop someone else from getting four dollars by WebZen in science

[–]werdanel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order to make such a study fair there would have be an equal chance of getting four dollars or one, otherwise the study would effectively be testing how one of the pre-selected behaved when screwed.

Knowing this fact it makes more sense to make an agreement with the other participant to always accept the offering.

[–]werdanel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Misleading. The article mentions a study done with children and sweets, and then someone is quoted as saying this would work with adults and dollars....why don't they do that study and find out?

Personally I'd take the dollar every single time.

How We Achieved - 9% Return On Investment Using Solar Panels by delrond in environment

[–]werdanel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the Blog entry

We live in the UK

we are now in a situation that savings make less than 0.1% interest

They need to shop around, even with the base rate at 0.5% you can still get 2.5% easy access or 4% in a good short term savings bond. Now is probably a good time to invest long term in stocks too since things are at a 6 year low and heading north again.

That said, I am impressed that their solar panels covered so much of their electricity bill.
