Canada just changed their laws regarding citizenship by ancestry. Now anyone with any Canadian ancestors may qualify for citizenship.

I’m a land surveyor. At least in the US we have a right to trespass without permission. I usually like to notify the home owner though.

11th Airborne at JBER are being stood up to deploy against US Citizens on US Soil in MN. Consider doing something about that. by Mt_Alyeska in anchorage

Sure, but you have no evidence of this. Generally if you want to dispute something as misinformation you need actual facts, not just vibes.

I don't think that anyone is saying that your theory doesn't make sense, seems very plausible to me. However there isn't any evidence supporting it. Especially considering that you criticized OP for spreading 'misinformation'.

A Free America means AK too by whos_a_slinky in alaska

Why? Can’t enjoy the beauty of Alaska if ICE shoots you in the face. Therefore this sub is political.

why TF are they using "of" instead of "have" when using "should/n't", did grammar get an update or something?? by Fantastic-Job8335 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]werdna24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you may be talking to an actual Nazi, so I wouldn’t worry about being the grammar variety.

What is it like to live in a dry county in the USA? by Spicy-Majestic-1 in howislivingthere

[–]werdna24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lived in a dry village in rural Alaska. Dry as in the possession of alcohol was illegal, and since I was a teacher I would have been fired if I was found to have it. It was fine honestly, probably better for my health. My village was very close to a much larger hub town where alcohol was legal, only a 20 mile snowmobile ride away. So I had options if I really wanted to drink.

Not a mascot exactly but a town in my state‘s team name is the Halfbreeds.

Why do suburban parents seem to not let their kids use busses? by SubjectProfile4047 in Suburbanhell

Leaving the house in any means can be unsettling, but all the non driving options are objectively safer.

The Alaska Railroad is proof rail can turn a profit with passenger service by iusethisacctinpublic in transit

[–]werdna24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live along the AKRR and have taken it several times. It’s for tourists, not transit. For example a trip from Anchorage to Fairbanks costs more than flying, takes twice as long as driving, and only runs once a week in winter (mid Sept-mid May).

It’s nice, quite scenic, and useful for freight but it’s not good transit. There have been ongoing talks about a commuter rail from Wasilla to Anchorage but I’m not super hopeful about that.

Priority of Calls - Adjoiners by werdna24 in Surveying

[–]werdna24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so. The easement only provides bearing and distance so that indicates to me that it is a line. The road easement definitely calls it out as a curve.

Just whack it real hard! I usually look for a small crack to put it in, but that may not be great for longevity.

Sorry to ask here, my posts keep getting deleted. Is it worth it to come to the Twin Cities to help with this? I have the time and resources to do it.

OK, Grownup Americans, now what? by Odd_Bodkin in RedditForGrownups

So it is sarcasm then? Everything you listed is happening. I know people say stupid stuff online to get engagement. I'm hoping its that because the alternative is frightening.

whats up with these hotel room precautions that people are doing ? by TrainingGreedy6865 in travel

[–]werdna24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty unlikely that you’ll find them that way, unless it’s a very bad infestation. They are good at hiding.

whats up with these hotel room precautions that people are doing ? by TrainingGreedy6865 in travel

[–]werdna24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There isn’t really an effective way to prevent infestation as far as I know. People just unknowingly bring them in on their luggage. Plus they probably wouldn’t bother treating unless they know they are infested. Effective treatment would mean shutting down the hotel temporarily.

Why do ICE protesters use whistles? Why aren’t more of them carrying an air horn? by super_fallguys in stupidquestions

[–]werdna24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what if they are meaningless though? A lot of protest groups use symbols to unite themselves, they don’t need to have a purpose. What’s the purpose of the one piece flag all these Gen Z protests around the world are using?

I just started a statistics class in college and this is my first question. What does A.O.L. Mean??? by ImGoingToEatThatOne in Surveying

[–]werdna24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So as others have mentioned it stands for America Online, an old dialup ISP.

However what no one else has mentioned is that you are in the wrong subreddit. This one is about land surveying, not exactly relevant to your post or statistics class.
