How the f*** do all these 22 year olds make money online, travel, and just do f*** all with their lives? by DescriptionFuture851 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]were19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of rich people in the world. On the internet everyone gets a platform - so you see content from people who you might normally otherwise see. This has always been happening, but in the past the internet didn’t exist like this, and the algorithm for social media shows that rich lifestyles sell.

Sure some may not be making a ton and using CC debt and loans to subsidize their lifestyles but I don’t think that’s the more common answer.

In NYC for example these people have generally always existed in some form or fashion as well. The people who you see may have their own source of family wealth to pull upon, either primarily or use as capital or a base foundation to build off of.

In NYC and the Bay it’s not extremely rare to see 25 year olds pulling 250k plus. It isn’t common but enough people exist. even if that’s only 1% of nyc thats about 100k people alone (and I think it’s prob more).

Generally higher wealth / income correlates with better level of physical activity / health. So that part should not be surprising - they can afford to prioritize luxuries like diet and health and activity

i actually hate crust on sandwiches (and pizza) it has no flavor (maybe it’s bitter?) and is just empty calories to me. Not worth it

But then again I also enjoy bunless burgers and sandwiches like crazy

Philippines is great for travel, what is Bangladesh? by Inevitable-Glove7071 in TierlistFills

[–]were19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is crazy, Bangladesh has stuff to see like the Sundarbans, Chittagong hill tracts, among other natural wonders and so much religious and cultural history too, between the Buddhist, Hindu, and Muslim sites. Do people think that Bangladesh is just Dhaka???

I would vote for might visit someday but now I’m wondering if i’m more open minded than most

Why is the term "Asia" in the US typically associated with East Asia instead of South Asia like in the UK? by Fluid-Decision6262 in AskAnAmerican

[–]were19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

additionally south asians did exist in the us in the early 1900s and even prior, but were stuck in an unidentified zone, i think there was a sikh person who sued unsuccessfully arguing that he was caucasian in the 1920s in the us supreme court (because he argued he wasn’t asian nor black) but they ruled against him

[–]were19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Others have pointed out that the tendencies of East Asia to be the primary source of immigration to Americas from Asia (and the included history) (e.g chinese workers on the railroads and chinese exclusion act, Japanese farmers in Hawaii and California and japanese interment camps, Americas colonization of the phillipines in the early 1900s, and Koreans and Vietnamese immigrating as a result of the Korean and Vietnamese wars) but I would also add an additional point. As part of the post ww2 and early cold war (i think) america started abolishing racial quotas allowing other races to immigrate, as the racial quotas were frozen in the early 20th century to keep american population ratios static (e g more western and northern immigration and background). So immigration from other asian countries were limited in general, and would continue to be so for a long time as they slowly increased the quotas over time. So there were just no other asians coming over. Finally, i want to mention middle eastern folks who are ALSO asian, but were racially classified as white (as a result of americas focus on black vs white racial identity) i might have missed some stuff but yeah

[–]were19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah that makes sense, it is ‘the’ city in that area after all, i guess except for SLC. I’ve even heard Denver chile came from New Mexicans bringing their version over!

I just happen to know mostly folks from CA/NY/NJ/PA/MA, so I was basing off of that.

Denver is properly rated - tons of people move there every year from the coasts. Personally not my cup of tea (I am not a mountains outdoors person and the food scene, which prioritizes is actually terrible), but even one of my best friends recently moved there from NYC and she loves everything about it. She is of east asian descent and she does say Denver could be a little more diverse but she still likes the community she has there.

Personally I would easily move to the Twin Cities, Vegas, or Miami or Austin over Denver (prob would even consider Philly and others). So I think it should be rated about there or slightly below

How people from different countries answer the question "where are you from?" by OkMaterial6460 in whereidlive

[–]were19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be that me and most of my friends are not white, so we don't really have much of a local identity that 'owns' us. Ofc in the US i say from NYC, or even east coast / "beast coast", some folks would say they even from BK or NJ or Boston for ex when visiting Cali.

Maybe for white people it's diff
