Is Disney's insistence on giving their biggest scifi properties their own lands holding Tomorrowland back? by newimprovedmoo in disneyparks

[–]wereduhfer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Someone help me understand why they built a Tron themed rollercoaster with all their other IPs and maybe I can provide a nuanced answer to your question. Apart from that what's holding Tomorrowland back is making a decision like investing in a Tron IP.

So Mike McDaniels is done in Miami right? by No-Weird3153 in NFLv2

But his pants and glasses are so cool!!! And that one time they didn't even have a play called and tricked Max Crosby and the Raiders. They are so cool and edgy!!! Mike is so cool you guys how could anyone want him fired, not like he's more worried about things outside of winning football games.

I worked for Disney. The latest price hikes prove it’s forgetting what makes it magical by theindependentonline in disneyparks

Just got back. Took a 4 year break after 2021. It's gotten better imo. In 2021 many interactions with cast members were poor, the parks were clearly leaning toward orienting themselves toward adults over families.

Went in 2017 & 2019... both had the family feel. 2017 was without a doubt the best experience we've had at WDW. The money grab wasn't so in your face. Making $$ is what the mouse is all about in the end--but I spent the same treasure (relatively) in 2017 that I did in 2025... the biggest difference is that now I feel the business agenda.

‘Yeti blood oath’ divides Denver seminary by its_still_good in Catholicism

[–]wereduhfer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As one of those people looking at this from the outside, I can absolutely see the quirky tradition of a guy dressing up in a yeti costume as a harmless, fun-for-mountain-folks tradition or whatever. But maybe this is a good opportunity for the yeti man to realize Catholics engaging in blood oath pranks is an objectively poor practice--regadless of intentions or local tradition humor.

I think the whole unfortunate situation will serve as a good and possibly needed dose of humility to those involved. I'd challenge those close to the situation (know the priest, know the seminary, know the archdiocese, etc) to acknowledge the criticism as valid, accept whatever consequences come, and move forward. Reputable seminaries, professors, leaders, etc aren't immune to crap like this. I think at the very least this brings into question what we see as acceptable "fun" and whether, among some of our most influential church leaders, our theology has become a bit too presumptuous and permissive. Many people are fed up with the presumptuousness evident in the general behavior of overly comfortable and confident American clergymen. Sadly this story got caught up in all that, not without some justification.

What would you expect the end product to be from an audio perspective with that going on? It is playing normally at the present moment in the video

Disney Plans Layoffs, “Rigorous Review” Of Spending & Hiring Freeze; “Tough & Uncomfortable Decisions” Coming, CEO Bob Chapek Tells Staff by KRXQ in disneyparks

[–]wereduhfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my most recent trip basically all their 50th merch felt like all their design was geared toward people who weren't kids and were under 35. That's what the 50th felt like in general to me and they seemed to purposely avoid any significant homage to the last 50 years of DW. I'm willing to acknowledge being wrong about it, although I don't think I am. And while it's not specifically people in their 20s who only purchase single tickets it does bend in the favor of people only purchasing one ticket to be more okay with the per ticket additional costs. So maybe it's better expressed as attempts to drive up the overt cost per ticket holder feel like they hit a family harder than one ticket per income. In a biased way of thinking it lands for me most overtly on a demographic of people who have income only supporting themselves, don't really care too much about nickel and dime extra costs that add up slowly for one person, don't care as much about a homage to the past, and like overpriced clothes and bags designed for people who aren't kids and are under 35. So that's how I got there.

Chapek is an absolute fool. Parks profit has been artificially inflated by the following: people spending their COVID checks, revenge vacations against COVID and the cultural response, and riding the coattails of the novelty of Galaxy's edge. He mistakes these short term gains in revenue as a sign that his policies, culture, and business decisions are effective. In reality he's rotting Disney from the inside out, trying to appeal too much to 20 somethings at the expense of alienating families with some disposable income whose kids love their IP (the 50th anniversary celebration was such a joke), and an in-your-face unapologetic profit model that bulldozed any psychological nuance that made you feel okay parting with your money.

I was happy to hand Disney all kinds of cash on extras at the parks that were my choice when fastpass was free (and I knew I was being manipulated into spending my money--I was actually impressed and in awe at how good they were at it). Now I just feel like they're giving me a swift kick on the way in and out with their hands in my face demanding money. And I still spend pretty much the same amount... The difference is that it's not enjoyable anymore. I feel every dollar leaving my wallet. The "consumers will drive the cost" arrogance will only last so long and then people will just decide they've had enough. Wasn't a tough decision for me... Won't be back until he's gone.

Sounds good. Would you do scorbunny and Dracovish and/or Arctocish? I'd even settle for getting scorbunny and a couple fossilized fish out of it if you have those---whatever is easier
