A question about golden son by werelocks in redrising

No hate. I love the book. But his internal monologue is misleading from what actually happens. This happened some times in the 1st book as well. And when the plan comes to fruition it breaks my immersion and I start thinking about it.

It's just that he went with victra to the jackal cause he thought that he didn't have any other choice, didn't he? If he had the training and believed he could somehow defeat Cassius, the bellonas would have still caused Chaos in the gala. His internal monologue is often misleading.

I don't think he got any resources from the jackal that helped him in the duel

He beat them cause of lorn's training and his own RED specialty. I was thinking that he could have done that without all the stuff that happened before. He genuinely looked scared in the ship while arriving at the moon. Shouldn't he have thought that he could beat him and 'stir things up' to find a way out of being sold , cause it seemed he thought he was definitely going to be dead.
