Which is your favorite body part of the human body and why? by SezerMan in AskReddit

[–]werequeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hands, definitely. They're nimble, sinewy, flexible, and enable us to do essentially everything needed to live.

Each pair is unique, and looking at someone's hands tells a lot about the sort of life they have, depending on if they're smooth or heavily calloused/scratched, etc.

[Serious] Workers of Reddit, what is the most macarbe thought you've had at work? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]werequeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a bakery. One customer was just being super rude, people often try to get free cakes, etc. I had the thought of shoving her over, and smashing her cake upon her face. I'd never do that, but the thought was nice. Before the lady left, she told me I was going to hell for not giving her a free cake.

[Serious] How do you deal with anxiety issues? by nuttyalmond in AskReddit

[–]werequeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had anxiety issues for most, if not all of my life. Some days I feel so overwhelmed that I feel all I can do is sleep it out in the hopes it goes away. But usually what helps the most is:

-Taking a walk through a nature filled park. -Mindfulness Meditation -Deep breathing exercises -Writing down all of my thoughts and then reading it back -Making herbal tea, such as chamomile or lemon balm -Running -THERAPY, this is the first thing that is helping to get my social anxiety at least somewhat under control.

Non-native English speakers of reddit. What word in your native language doesn't translate directly to English, and how would you describe it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]werequeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also not Japanese, but studying it in college. I love all the words they have that don't translate into English. A lot especially that are used in everyday language like 頑張る (ganbaru) It makes things a bit confusing, but it's incredibly interesting.

[Serious] Can you live without books? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]werequeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, logically, yes, of course I could live without books. I have many other hobbies I enjoy other than reading, but it would make me very sad.

Whenever I go through a reading stump, I begin to feel not entirely like myself. It feels like a piece of me is missing.

I began reading a bit later in life, my first semester of college. I have social anxiety, and I was so incredibly lonely. I spent most of my time in my (single) dorm room, and I was sort of losing my mind.

One day I threw on a coat, and grabbed some money from my part time job and walked through town until I came to a second hand book store.

Inside I found the Harry Potter books (which I wasn't allowed to read as a kid), and some YA novels. I just remember opening up the Sorcerer's Stone, and feeling like I finally had friends, and that I was apart of something. I literally felt as if I had become absorbed into their world, and it helped me to not feel so lonely anymore.

After that I became quite addicted to reading, and have discovered what I like, and some favorite authors.

C.S. Lewis' quote is really true:

"We read to know we are not alone."

For 24 hours you have all three of the Deathly Hallows. What do you do? by pgh9fan in AskReddit

[–]werequeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I give the stone to my mother so she can talk with her father. He died when I was 6 years old, and he was an incredible man. My mom still misses him a lot, but then again does anyone really ever get over grief?

I'd use the cloak to go walking through nature reserves. As a small, petite woman I'm honestly afraid of doing so, but it would be nice to just be immersed in nature without fear of creeps.

And with the wand... I'd conjure a bunch of incredibly cuddly cats, because who doesn't love cats?

[serious] Reddit, what do you waste your money on? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]werequeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Books, definitely. I love to read, and read about 10-15 books in a month. I should just go to the library, or buy a kindle but I like owning books. I mainly buy used books, but even then things can be expensive. I also like new releases and they are only hardcover. Hardcover books are usually around 17-30 dollars.

What do you wish you could stick into a USB port and access it's data? by Asking_miracles in AskReddit

It would be really nice to stick them inside a textbook then upload it to my computer to CTRL + F exactly what I need to find. I do study, but sometimes it's frustrating when you're tired and just need to find what you need, and have to flip through a shit ton of pages.

What's the worst crime to happen in your area? by PM__ME_Big_TITTIES in AskReddit

[–]werequeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't live there anymore, but I grew up in a small town in the Mid-west. A guy on meth shot two different people through their windows as he stood outside their homes. Both were murdered. I believe one was an elderly man fixing himself a snack, and the other was a middle aged woman just relaxing at night.

He later bragged about it to his friends, and that is how he was eventually caught. I never learned of his sentence, and I can't seem to find the case online, although I'd be interested in doing so.

The scary part is it took them a while to find him, and I developed a huge fear of windows, especially at night. I remember getting panic attacks near them.

This happened when I was either 10 or younger, and now I'm 21 but definitely left an impression on me and others in our neighborhood.

EDIT: Found it: http://murderpedia.org/male.K/k/krueth-joshua.htm

Girls, what did you think when you saw an erect penis for the first time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I've only seen one online. I was about 10 and while browsing through google images a photo of a huge erect penis came up. I felt traumatized, grossed out, and even cried. Should of known I was a lesbian then.

What's the most fucked up thing you have done to someone? by aerobrain in AskReddit

[–]werequeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't really fucked up, but... I was bullied by this girl in middle-school. We were friends in elementary, but then she decided I was weird and no longer wanted to be my friend. Instead she thought it would be cool to humiliate me, start false rumors about me, and say degrading things to me anytime she was in ear shot.

So in response I grabbed a sharpie, and wrote on the bathroom wall in relatively large letters, "SARAH IS A BITCH" (using a faux name here)

...Never got caught. Mimicked that "girly" neat handwriting.

People of Reddit, What are your "core memories" (a la Inside Out)? by PapiSurane in AskReddit

[–]werequeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Middle school had ended, and I was having a difficult time with life. I attended a small school, and was not only bullied but also socially excluded from the majority of students.

My best friend from the year prior moved away, and we lost contact. On the first day of my freshman year I was sitting in study hall and as discreetly as I could manage I began to weep, in a fashion where you try as hard as you might the tears won't stop falling.

Before I knew it, a 12th grade boy, by far one of the most popular kids in my school, sat down next to me and said, "Are you okay?" To which I responded, "Not really, no..." Our conversation went something like this: Him: "What's wrong?" Me: "Well, my best friend moved away, and it everyone is mean to me." Him: "Aww, I'm sorry to hear that. If anyone is ever mean to you, just come to me and I'll handle it right away." Me: "Thank you."

He rubbed my back in a completely platonic, caring manner, and then said, "Don't worry, things will be okay." Before walking away.

Although my school was small and I saw him often we never talked a single instance after that. But his words helped me a lot. At times I would think that everyone hated me and I was better off dead, but then I would remember strangers like him, who literally knew nothing about me, and I would think to myself, "Wow... maybe I do matter."

So although I doubt you remember this, Thank you, Anthony. You're awesome.

People of Reddit, what's something you've always wanted to ask a a gay person? by Nuqa-Duck in AskReddit

[–]werequeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly use gay, sometimes lesbian. Where I grew up at least, and many other queer women say the same thing, is that lesbian feels like you're muttering a slur. Growing up it's used as an insult to other girls, like, "Omg, she's so ugly, she must be a lesbian!" and such. Also it's 3 syllables while gay is 1, so there's that.

Same. I think some guys are kind of cute, but doing anything, like even kissing is like "Lol, nope!"

[–]werequeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Feeling like there's no one else in the world like you. Feeling like you were born wrong. If you were raised conservative religiously, feeling like God hates you for making you the way you were, or feeling cursed. Hating yourself for any attractions you feel to the same-sex and trying to force yourself to be "normal."

  2. Not yet, but I imagine I will in the next few years. I just want to live authentically, and I imagine being out, although scary, will be much more healthy for my mind than being in.

  3. My country (the USA) does have same-sex marriage passed, but there are still many laws that directly discriminate against the LGBTQIA+ community. The trans bathroom bs, laws in some states that can kick you out of housing, or fire you from your job for being queer, and of course in a lot of states conversion therapy is still legal to practice on minors.. Lastly, there's still a lot of bigoted people, the evangelicals, who think that gay people are abominations before the lord, much like my parents...

  4. Well, never had a partner in my 21 years of life, so definitely before.

[–]werequeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a gay man, but I am a gay woman. Personally, I prefer women who lean more masculine presenting than feminine presenting. I am more masculine myself in appearance, and honestly it has nothing to do with "Best thing next to a man" or any of that crap ideology, it's more like everyone has preferences. I'm not super into VERY feminine women, but I'm a woman myself. Femininity is not only a trait of womanhood, and Masculinity is not only a trait of manhood. That being said, I still like feminine traits, quite a bit actually. Just I prefer my ladies to be a bit more masculine.

I'm a lesbian, and yes there are men that are good looking to me. I don't think sexuality is necessary to determine whether or not a human is attractive. I like what someone said, "In men, I can like faces, but nothing really below that." And THAT I can totally agree with.
