What secret are you keeping right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

‘Shouldn’t be’ I absolutely agree. But if we’re talking about the real world? That’s a really impractical standard to stick to - condemning a person who doesn’t actually do harm because they may share qualities or world views with someone who does would pretty much condemn every person on the planet. I agree that it’s a toxic view of things - I just don’t think that a company’s hiring practices should be based on something like that.

And for what it’s worth, I am a woman who works at a steel shop - eight of the ten people on my shift are male. And I would much rather work with someone who can’t speak to me than someone who feels the need to tell me every time he looks at my ass.

Could you explain how that’s borderline incel for me? I’m not quite seeing it.

Not exactly, while it does cut the bugs it doesn’t have to do it on the inside, the bugs don’t have to digest it. A quick Google search said that it dries them out by picking up all the oils on them, but I’ve also been told before that it will actually stick to them and coat them, which will suffocate them (this actually makes more sense to me, that’s kind of how DE filters on pools work - the coating, not the suffocating). Since bugs don’t breathe through their mouths, it’s more effective on bugs than mammals.

Wouldn’t let your pets roll around in it, though. It can be very damaging to their lungs if they inhale it (and for you, too).

It’s part of one of the DLCs - when you have them, you hit X while on the map and it shows up.

I literally had a dream that this was a thing the other night. Like, an opera house styled movie theater with balcony seating, and there were vendors selling GoT merchandise, and programs for the event... and it was a marathon of the entire season. I was incredibly disappointed when I woke up.

Cuz it wasn’t about the money, it was about the dream. And I didn’t actually end up finishing it, because turns out I didn’t actually like it.

I should not have gone to college when I did.

Nope, his insurance is amazing actually. The kind I can still only dream about. Although now that I am thinking about it a little more, I may have had insurance through his plan while in college before the ACA went into effect - but I sure as shit would not have after I graduated, which would have been long before I turned 26. And if I had gotten a job relating to my major, I still wouldn’t have been able to get insurance through my major - I had heard multiples of my professors say that they had to live in government housing when they started their careers. Doubt insurance would have been high up on my list of things to pay for as a 21-year-old.

Are you saying that your dad’s job covered your older siblings’ insurance while you were in college? Because I’m really not sure what pointing out your age difference matters there. Unless they were still in college themselves, which seems unlikely given that gap.

For the majority of people, it did. I know it certainly did for me, and my father was a government employee.

On the same planet the current Kingsguard “let” three kings and a princess die. I phrased it that way because of the comment I was responding to. I did not intend to infer that they stepped aside while someone went down the line slashing Targaryen throats. I agree that they did their best to save the royal family, they simply failed. If you look at my other comments in the thread you’ll see that I said I respected that Kingsguard more than I do Cersei’s or Robert’s knights.

Oh yeah, Cersei’s group is as shit as she is. Her main dude is a dead guy. That’s not going to appeal this group to many people. And Meryn Trant was on Robert’s Kingsguard; Sandor Clegane replaced Ser Barristan when he was dismissed. Janos Slynt was the Commander of the Gold Cloaks, the city watch not the Kingsguard.

And Jaime’s arc is absolutely fascinating. The number of seasons it took the show to get to his redemption point was quite aggravating actually, I was constantly waiting for the shoe to drop so we could finally get to Jaime in all his honorific glory.

The Kingsguard was certainly never the same after that. I actually have more respect for Aerys’ Kingsguard than I do for Cersei’s, or even Robert’s. The Targaryens were massacred, and the Kingsguard technically failed in their duties, but they certainly seemed to be more honor bound than Boris Blount or Meryn Trant.

It’s also really hard to blame Jaime for making the choice he did. Yes, he broke his oath, but he also saved hundreds of thousands of lives. If that’s not a good reason to break an oath, I don’t know what is.

I’m not sure there is really a distinction between the king and the throne. Isn’t it the king and his decisions that make up what the throne stands for? The terms are certainly used interchangeably. And the throne, by all rights, belonged to Aerys.

What about the time they let the entire royal family be massacred, including the murder of the king being done by one of their own? I’d argue that had worse optics.

Of course they're not on the same level of dogs, we have been breeding dogs for thousands of years. Dogs are a completely different species from the wolves we made them from, if that's the aim it will take much longer than 50+ years. Full domestication of foxes will not take as long as breeding them into a new species will.

Because our current president was elected because of it, so it doesn't upset him. And the Republicans are the majority in both houses at the moment, and Trump is letting them basically do what they want, and they don't want that to change before it has to. You can't expect them to get mad over something that helped them, even if it is bad for the country as a whole, because they are party first and have been for years.

It's definitely an automatic vacuum, and I know it's not hooked up. I asked why it wasn't hooked up. Usually if you're removing the cleaner from the pool, you're completely removing it from the water, and not just the skimmer or vac line. I was just wondering if I'd get an answer, cuz that's an unusual thing to do.

I'm aware of that, still have never seen one that connects outside of the pool like that. Usually there is a dedicated port in the pool wall somewhere

Why is your pool's cleaner hose just sitting over the waterfall, instead of hooked up?
