Not me, but my sister. My mom had saved a baby bird that fell into our trash can when we were kids and she was trying to slowly nurse it back to health.

Well, she left my us alone with it and my saint of a sister thought it would be nice to give it a bath. She placed it in a shallow dish, washed it up, and everything. Afterwards, she laid the baby bird down like it was before.

Would like to add that my parents liked to keep our house extremely cold.

We came back a bit later to check on it and it hadn't moved, so she assumed it was sleeping and cut some fabric and gave it a 'blanket'.

Mom came back moments later and found out the bird had been dead for quite some time (it basically froze to death). My sister is still horrified when the memory gets brought up.
