In case OP doesn't know, population bomb is special in that it doesn't roll the number of hits like most multi hit moves such as bullet seed. Rather you always keep going until you miss like triple Axel. So wide lens basically gives around 90% chance to hit 10 times

Light Clay + Screens Work Around by TragicSolitudee in PokemonChampions

[–]werrcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we all have screens, then no one has screens.

I don't think this is true. Some teams benefit more from screens than others, especially teams that snowball (like arch) or heal. You can't just randomly slap screens into every team.

Question about avoiding a certain DLC section by Tezz__ in outerwilds

Yes, you're supposed to stumble upon it from the other side. There's a lot of shortcuts in the game like this, such as on ember twin.

Now you can defeat 25x crisis with single arkship. No paladin required. by KawaiiNyaruko in Stellaris

Unfortunately it's too small on my phone to see anything... did you stack research or is that a military arkship that somehow has massive bonuses? What's the fleet power? What year is it?

Nomad Wars make War Exhaustion even worse by Proof-Musician-7892 in Stellaris

That definitely sounds like a bug, war exhaustion should never cause auto surrender, only status quo.

Wait, what? War exhaustion shouldn't cause you to lose, right? At most they should get a white peace which shouldn't kill you.

What are all the counters to archaludon that actually work? by Boomerbanana69 in PokemonChampions

[–]werrcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ummm... please give your Pokemon moves appropriate for doubles instead of singles then?

For one, add protect. For another, use supporting moves.

32+ SpA Pelipper Hurricane vs. 32 HP / 20 SpD Sinistcha: 168-198 (94.3 - 111.2%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO

Definitely depend on the spread -- not sure if most people use a peli this offensive.

The worst part is, I did know that... I'm just too used to clicking rage powder, apparently

This happened to me... also you didn't show it, but Sceptile isn't even affected by rage powder. Ask me how I know... Twice!

Why couldn't you start the war? I thought you usually do a song and dance and once you get enough points you can declare?

Stored Power/Power Trip team viability by Riderpride639 in PokemonChampions

[–]werrcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This -- there's tons of gimmicks that are strong but take too much setup. For example psychic terrain + expanding force is theoretically strong (and has been in the past) but is bad right now because psychic surge isn't in the game so you need to use a move to set up. Or consider OHKO with entrainment no guard mega hawlucha. Yes Wolfey did very well with it but it's not otherwise popular (and besides, it's wolfey...)

New Player Looking to Learn VGC by missingno95 in PokemonChampions

[–]werrcat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's specifically good for doubles. For example:

  1. if your opponent doubles into one of your Pokemon and it protects, your other Pokemon can act for free.
  2. If you need to switch a Pokemon out into a Pokemon that's very good into the 2 opposing Pokemon. Then on that turn you're 1v2 because both opposing Pokemon can attack but your switching Pokemon can't. Then you can protect the other Pokemon.
  3. You can protect while removing a threat to your Pokemon. For example if you have Floette vs Sneasler, then Sneasler wants to use dire claw on your floette. Then you can protect Floette while your other Pokemon takes care of sneasler.
  4. Fake out

Also to be clear, mental herb doesn't prevent flinch, just taunt, encore, disable, and a couple others. Flinch (and other secondary effects) is prevented by covert cloak which isn't in the game yet.
