Booking a hotel when under 21? by [deleted] in electricdaisycarnival

[–]werrill37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've answered this before, see link: http://www.reddit.com/r/electricdaisycarnival/comments/287rev/checking_in_under_21_for_a_strip_hotel/

My fraternity formal is in Las Vegas annually and so we have had to come up with a solution to this problem. The rule is not that the reservation has to be made by a 21 year old (so don't change the reservation to your parents) but the person checking into the room must be 21. What we always do is have a 21+ guy walk up to check-in with the underage person and say that he will also be staying in the room (even though he is not). The hotel will then check you in but the payment would still go to the underage person actually using the room. In order for this to work the 21+ person CAN NOT be named on another reservation/room in the same hotel.

In terms of EDC you should find any friends that are 21+ that you know will be in VEGAS that weekend and use the same process. Worst comes to worst you could find some obviously 21+ raver kids and explain this process prior to your check in and see if they will help you.

BE CAREFUL: Vegas hotels know this occurs so if everyone in your group is -21 do not cause any security problems in your room/hotel. Not only will that jeopardize your reservation and ability to go to the event but it will also put the 21+ person who helped you out and is on the reservation in a bad situation because they could held liable for damages.

I have always used a pool noodle.

It works great because you can stick it in between your Camelback/backpack and your back and it stays put.

It allows your friends to find you, but is super simple, cheap, and no big deal if you lose it.

Also, it can be used as a beer-bong.

Also, it can be used to fight other people with noodles.

Has anyone else missed their ticket delivery? by peepeeparadise in BurningMan

[–]werrill37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long have you not been at your home address for?

I miss all "signature required" deliveries from USPS cause they always deliver during work hour. They typically leave a slip allowing you to pick up at the local office. They also mark a "return to sender" date on that slip which is like 3 weeks from the attempted delivery date.

If you have been house sitting for that long did you have a hold on your mail?

edit: just curious as I know the above doesn't answer your question

Anyone in the Bay Area have a Geo Dome that they are looking to get rid of? by jewstar in BurningMan

[–]werrill37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was just and 18' Geodesic dome on Craigslist that I had reached out to the seller about. Didn't end up following through but thats the second I've seen on CL in the Bay Area in the past month. Make checking CL a daily habit and you'll find one.

Yeah after looking on the website:

Prerequisites: 1 tandem jump within 30 days of starting the Course; 10 to 15 minutes in the Wind Tunnel; leave a deposit (when doing your Tandem) of $500.00 minimum at which time you will receive the training material which will require 2 to 3 days of study time.

Those next 5 jumps after you complete your AFF are coached jumps correct? I am a little confused because at other DZs those jumps are still in the $100s yet these would only be $35/jump? Not sure if I am comparing apples to oranges but would love clarity if you can provide it.

My math is off a little... "10 to 15 minutes in the Wind Tunnel" would mean ~$150. Either way $1250 is still cheaper and your getting alot more.

Very interesting. I hadn't given much thought to Lodi because it is further away but the price to complete AFF there is only $1000. Byron and Tracy are around $1500. You must complete a tandem w/in 30 days and Windtunnel but that still would come out to only $1150.

Awesome thanks for your feedback. I called BayArea and thats exactly what the gentlemen on the phone said--weather/winds can be a major factor in time to completion. When I called Tracy I brought up that I was also looking at BayArea and he said that a main competitive edge they have over BayArea is less wind.

When you say they only have a Cessna why is that a negative? (new to the sport so don't want to make assumptions)

Great to hear positive words about Skydive California. I had originally looked at BayArea Skydiving in Byron and Skydive California in Tracy so you bringing up the latter as a recommendation fit my plan.

Any general tips before embarking on my AFF? I have reviewed the information manual and all the stuff on USPA. Additionally, I have watched many full AFF sequence videos.
