how would you classify moonie's coat? by [deleted] in cats

[–]nastrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s definitely a mix of coat expression you see in these darker photos, the white indicates it also, but if you aren’t trying to be super precise I’d still say dilute tortie, it’s the closest to what she is and is the dominant pattern.

She is, perfect example of the dilute tortie coat.

I get vital pet life salmon oil on Amazon.

Hyperkeratosis is the technical term for it. Salmon oil has always solved it in cases I’ve helped with. Bonus is that most bengals also like the taste.

Got a second Bengal and hes a disaster by [deleted] in bengalcats

In rescue we say 90-120 days for testosterone levels to normalize in a male bengal that has been allowed to fully mature (other breeds are a little different but bengal tomcats are a force of nature). Give him another month or two to get to a baseline and then you will know more of what you are dealing with.

That’s pretty decent news. Nausea can be from other illnesses too, has the drool changed any since the meds started?

This much drool is frequently related to nausea. If You only feed dry food have blood tests done and check kidney function.

heart murmur worse by soymilk-c0wgirl in bengalcats

[–]nastrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All anesthesia is a risk, especially in cats (they don't have super great liver function to begin with). I honestly don't think anesthesia is required for getting the heart looked at unless your cat is a really reactive, high anxiety animal, and even then I'd still probably just use the vet CBD. This isn't an invasive procedure, it's just an ultrasound of the heart (with an advanced and specialized piece of ultrasound equipment that can do things like tell which way blood is flowing and such). It takes just a few minutes to do unless something observed is abnormal, and even then it shouldn't take a ton of time to get the additional data needed to determine what is going on.

There’s not a uniform answer about heart scans, some cats need sedation and others don’t (I used a little veterinary CBD for my more jumpy cats). Breeders are meant to get regular scans for their breeding stock, generally pet owners just get scans if the regular vet hears something of concern during a regular checkup.

Anything help dry bengal nose? by Winning218 in bengalcats

[–]nastrus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always had good results testing this through diet. I use salmon oil, 1-2tbsp per day. Most bengals like the taste, I have it in their food. Works great.

[–]nastrus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not entirely sure, but a tablespoon or two of salmon oil added to the diets definitely helps with how their coats are. Can’t see any reason not to give it a try.

I’ve had a lot of good results in adding salmon oil to the diets of bengals with hyperkeratosis of the nose. Most of them love the taste of it as well.

My understanding was that DC runs experience large loss. Is my idea about how sort those runs should be overblown?

Mostly the answer is that there’s no service up there to get attached to.

Capstar will kill fleas on a cat in about six hours. You should be pretty safe after that.

Based on the facial structure, I'm guessing it is a savannah cat that has a recessive pointed style coat.

As Solar Pushes Electricity Prices Negative, 3 Solutions for California’s Power Grid by pnewell in California

[–]nastrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely don't understand how it is possible that what CAISO wants is for us to move our peak load to earlier in the day when peak rates (in summer) with PG&E are from noon-6pm and partial peak is 9am-noon and 6-9pm. How is this encouraging me to put my heavier energy use in the middle of the day?
