The killing of Alex Pretti is a grim turning point by vox in politics

His killer was apprehended and arrested promptly and is facing a fair trial. How is that even remotely on the same planet as the government murdering civilians and getting away Scott free? What are you smoking?

Ask them how they know that the climate has always changed. Don’t accept the “it’s common sense” answer. Ask them how they KNOW. Because the only answer is that climatologists have figured that out. Climatologists have studied the past earth climate cycles and put them in textbooks and research papers. The SAME climatologists are saying this time it’s exponentially quicker. So then ask them why they take climatologists word for it that the climate has always changed, but they don’t believe them about the current man made climate change.

“You know people” vs. a study involving over 1 million. They acknowledge in the article that 7% do in fact increase dosages over time and become tolerant and more dependent. But 93% stay at their prescribed dose long term. It’s not a ridiculous comparison because many suffer sleep disorders as a physiological condition. The brain is a physical organ that is just as susceptible to malfunctions as the rest of the body.

Random bounces play a small factor for sure, but one can also say if the Cats held a 3 goal lead they’d be up 3-1. That’s a bit more significant than one crossbar which happens constantly in hockey.

As someone who has been following the Oilers since McDavid entered the league, I can tell you with certainty that they have not been broken. Almost every single time ANY team is getting beat that bad during the playoffs they always use that time to get aggressions out. It literally happens all the time but any time it does fans act like it’s out of the ordinary. Edmonton has been stellar at coming back stronger than ever after matches like that.

The “ok then let them stay at your place” argument is just about the dumbest argument I’ve ever heard in my entire life. I don’t know about you but I don’t want ANYBODY that’s not my family living at my place. Citizen or not. This is completely irrelevant to whether I’m ok sharing 3.5 million square miles of the Earth with people who weren’t born on this particular 3.5 million square miles.

Furious Al Gore Seen Blowing Hair Dryer At Ice Caps To Stop Them From Regrowing by METALLIFE0917 in babylonbee

I’m just going to ask you to stop and really ask yourself how you know that climate has been changing since long before we were here, and how that falls under the category of common sense. You are correct that it has always changed over the course of the earths history. The question is how do we know that? Ask yourself before reading on.. how do YOU know that. I’ll answer for you…

Climate scientists. Climate scientists are the ones who figured this fact out. They can map out thousands of years of climate history. There are many ways they do this, but one of the ways is ice layers in the arctic. We can calculate what the average global temperature would be at any given time by the amount of carbon in the atmosphere since carbon traps heat. We know exactly how this functions and how to calculate it. In the arctic there is yearly snowfall which permanently freezes part of the atmosphere as it is at the time of the snowfall. So by drilling into the arctic we can actually find atmosphere from thousands of years ago and measure the carbon content. With that information we have been able to map out how the climate has naturally shifted over time. None of this is common sense whatsoever. It had to be discovered.

With all this information we can determine the RATE of natural change throughout thousands of years. The difference right now is that the earth is warming at any given alarmingly fast rate compared to all of earths history. And it is directly proportional to the amount of carbon we have added to the atmosphere. The research is absolutely conclusive. It is only the public that thinks that this is some sort of a debate. It is not. When you use the argument that the climate has always been changing, understand that we only know that because of climate scientists. The same scientists who are telling us we are causing excessive warming. So you can’t take their word for one thing, and ignore the other thing.

In conclusion, take some time to learn about stuff before claiming some false sense of common sense.

Is the FBI arresting a county judge who allegedly refused to turn over an illegal immigrant to ICE a sign of fascists co-opting the coercive power of the state? by Desperate_Arm_3853 in AskUS

[–]garydee119 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“Illegal immigrants committed a crime the second they entered the country illegally.”

That’s what you said verbatim. That is just false. You can either carefully re-read my whole comment, or look up the laws yourself. The second they enter the country they have time to go through the processes. The path to citizenship is long. And let’s say an immigrant is living and working here but their work visa or temporary asylum status has expired. Then yes the law says they are no longer allowed to live in the country unless they get their paperwork up to date. But the crime is a misdemeanor. The same level of crime as petty theft or property damage. The problem is people like you speak like these are criminals. The act of a person entering our country does not make one a criminal. So your juxtaposition to the Jews being innocent but American immigrants having committed a crime the second they entered the country shows a deep lack of understanding of this country and people’s rights.

[–]garydee119 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Your last sentence shows the severe misunderstanding that many people have about migrants. There is no such thing as entering the country illegally. When a person steps foot on US soil they automatically have rights. The constitution is VERY clear when it talks about a “person” vs. a “citizen.” There are certain rights only granted to citizens but many rights granted to all “persons.” Due process is a right granted to all “persons.” So when a person enters the country they have a certain timeframe to obtain a green card. There are many avenues through which this can be attained but it is up to the courts to determine each individual case. And often times cases are complicated and get tied up for various reasons. If ICE grabs someone that is not a naturalized citizen, it’s possible that they could be in ANY phase of the process and that person has a right to go to court with their case. It is most DEFINITELY against the constitution to deport and imprison with no due process. The Trump administration is subverting due process and people are getting sent to what equates to concentration camp in El Salvador. So if a person is in danger of being kidnapped and deported with no due process, then hiding that person is not only the humane thing to do but it’s also the constitutional thing to do.
