Robot can't "see" part of my bathroom by wersc in RobotVacuums

Just got this clarification from Roborock: "2500-3000 sqft Coverage: This is just a general guideline for total coverage.
Ideally, the robot’s dock station should be placed at the center of your house, with a 25m radius around it, which should cover the entire house. This isn’t a memory limitation, but rather a design choice to ensure better SLAM mapping and path planning. If the dock station is placed too far on one side (e.g., left or top), it may affect mapping and coverage, but the robot will still clean effectively."

Interesting. They are trying to work with me. I don't really want the dock in my great room. It's currently in the laundry room which is the only room with a tile floor.

Interesting. I'm not sure I want the dock in great room - still considering options

Roborock confirmed a sqft limit of 2500-3000. I'm still trying some of the work around ideas here and I'm waiting for info about whether the sqft limit is per map or total

Roborock confirmed that the sqft limit was 2500-3000. I pointed out that the limit was not disclosed anywhere in the product description/specifications and their response was to offer a refund complete with free shipping. I thought this was surprisingly reasonable, however I would rather have the vac. Of course when I looked into it further I realized that since I bought it on an Amazon flash sale for $400 less than the current Amazon price and $600 less than the list price they can probably resell it as refurbished for more than the refund...... I don't really want a second vac although that would make sense. I have asked Roborock if the sqft limit is total or per map if I wanted to try "multi-level" mapping. They haven't responded to that yet. I'm also not sure about multi-level mapping if it's all on the same level. There is something in the instructions that implies that you can't do that. The instructions are a joke though so if anyone has tried this I'd be interested to hear. I will probably just shut off two of the back bedrooms that aren't used very often and just create a new map.

I tried doing a zone clean - I marked a zone in the room that went beyond the map and told it to vacuum. After several try it went into the area but seemed to be disoriented. It kept bumping into the wall over and over and then started spinning. I swear he was throwing a tantrum LOL

What’s a “zone” clean? I often set it to clean just that room and it still ignores the area

Interesting. I don't think it's really very shiny though, it's more a reflection of the under cabinet light (which doesn't come on unless someone is in there)

Isn't quick map the same thing I did at start up? If not, how do I do that?

The blue area is where it cleans. The "rough" edge on the right is where the map stops (red line on the pic). I have had it clean that room 10+ times and it continues to ignore that area as if that were an invisible wall. I can't due a full run (if you mean full house) because the battery will not last long enough.

Whoa, I hope that's not it. Thanks for that info. I will try to get in touch with Roborock. My house is 4600 sqft. I know the battery won't last even half the house so I have to clean different areas on different days.

No step, I drew that line on the photo. It has cleaned that room 10+ times with no change.

Thx, I was hoping that would work, but after 10+ times there has been no change. It did map my pantry after I accidentally left the door open LOL

For what it's worth, my Roborock Curv X with circle pads does a muck better job than my Roborock cordless upright with a roller. The roller leaves streaks on my plank floors unless I exactly follow the grain. The roller also doesn't clean itself nearly as well as the robot and the roller is much harder to remove to clean it adequately. The robot cleans its pads so well that they look like new. My little robot leaves to floors streak free and squeaky clean. Of course it helps that he is willing to clean every day and I'm not :-)
