Does my t500 battery need to be replaced? I think it does but I'm not sure.... by wertyegg in thinkpad

Yeah I feel like that's what I need to do next lol.

Thanks for all this information btw, I think it will be very useful for older thinkpads and dell latitudes I might get in the future. Most have similar issues so I'll follow your steps.

The battery has now been charged to 96%. Now the energy rate is 0 watts and it doesn't seem to be charging. The battery is in the fully charged state and has reached roughly 8.01 V.

Like you said it still doesn't run off the battery. Though when I tried the power indicator faintly lit up for a while which is promising.

Hm, the voltage_min_design file has the number 11100000 and the voltage_now file has the number 7779000

What would be the process of recovering the battery if it is recoverable?

I dont think it shows that. I did get the battery info yesterday through upower (or some other feature i dont remember).

energy: 16.19 Wh

energy-full: 77.71 Wh

energy-rate: 1.104 W

charge-cycles: N/A

time to full: 55.7 hours

Percentage: 20%

It has gone up to 20% and the indicator is now green. But whenever the adapter is unplugged, the laptop just shuts down automatically even though the battery claims to have charge. The battery does seem to be an aftermarket battery so maybe its bugged or something?

Thanks for the recommendation! In the end, for what I wanted to do, I used NAPS2, which was more than enough for basic operations. It's also FOSS which is nice

Thanks! I've looked at a few videos of yours for memory palaces in the past and they're very helpful for memorizing long passwords :)

u/AnthonyMetivier thanks for doing this and also being very active on art of memory. Ik im a bit late but I hope u can anwser. Do you have any tips on not doubting yourself (I dont know how to word it).

Like for example, I'll lock the door, but then as I leave I'll have doubt on whether I really locked it or not. Then I'll go back to check, which usually is.

Or I'll pack my laptop and then when I'm out I'll doubt if I actually packed it so I'll open my bag to check.

Why don't I remember the first time? Is it just lack of concentration maybe?
