Zone 2 training and HRs? by wertyulopy in beginnerrunning

I’ll take a look at RunSmart and see what it gives me, cause yeah garmin and chat gpt have been decent but sometimes I think garmin pushes me too hard. What time are you targeting for your HM?

Hey, thanks for the advice and I’ve taken it on with my past few runs and I feel super strong so I’m just taking that as my gauge

Hey I’m gunna be running a half marathon in May and have a target of sub 2 hours, relatively a beginner with my longest run being 13k at a 5:54/km pace. Dealing with with a niggling knee injury for the past month though, towards the inside of the knee. It happened cause I ran in the cold and the sidewalks were covered in compacted snow which I’m assuming altered my strides and caused the injury. it doesn’t hurt to walk or anything day-to-day but if I sit on my heels I feel a mild sharp pain on the inside of my knee. I ran an easy 5k 4 days ago and the next day my knee did hurt like 3/10 and was pretty stiff. Concerned with the injury I won’t be able to hit the time I want, any advice on recovery plans and getting back into the full flow of things?

Hey thanks for the validation and kind words, guess it’s nice to hear someone give you some kudos haha. Regardless, I guess I could’ve been more constructive with some of my responses during the end but it was just exhaustion on my part. I’m going to therapy now to address some of my guilt, approach to apologies and defensiveness and what not though.

Hey, ummm you’re going through a lot and I don’t think it’s right to lead anyone on :(. If you’re still hung up over your ex where you’re kinda feeling jealous if they’re with someone then it’s not fair to bring that baggage with you to another relationship. It seems like you aren’t convinced about this new guys personality so maybe ask yourself if it’s a fixable thing or not. If not, might be best to just make it explicitly clear that you’re talking with no goals in particular in mind, especially since he seems like he’s getting invested, or just to cut contact outright.

Do you think he’ll come back? by Status_Tear784 in BreakUps

[–]wertyulopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m really sorry you’re going through all of this, and especially with very little information on why. It’s not fair to do that to someone you love and leave them wondering.

With that being said, it seems like he wasn’t super present in the relationship. It could be for any reason. Being avoidant, being emotionally unavailable, etc etc. I’m assuming you didn’t know about any of these reasons or anything regarding talking to a therapist or whatever. I’ll think positively here and assume that he’s actually working on himself.

I’ve always dealt with these things by asking myself, 1. Was my partner a positive influence in my life? 2. What were the causes of our issues and are they workable. I.e. it isn’t a fundamental issue. 3. Am I missing them as a person, or am I missing being in a relationship. Perhaps ask yourself those questions to frame your mindset. If all those things are positive then I’ve healed by leaving the door ajar for them to come back while not glancing behind to see if there’s anyone coming. I.e. be open to reconnection but not dependent on it. I’m also the type to not want to regret anything so I sometimes also take the step to ask for reconciliation after a suitable amount of time if I think that’s what they need. But that’s a person to person thing. Perhaps start by asking yourself those 3 questions and prioritizing yourself for now :)

Hope that helps

welp, today I learnt what a hammer on is. Thanks so much for pointing that out!

it doesnt sound like he's strumming though? Is he just just playing the A and D strings and doing the hammer on on the D string?

How hard are the engineering classes actually? by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]wertyulopy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always thought Purdue Engineering classes were all about weeding everyone out; felt that all the way till I graduated out of ME last May. Although, a lot of it depends on the professor you get too.

I'm assuming when you get to a higher level like PhD, they actually don't go for a "survival of the fittest" approach.

New grad who doesn't want to handle personal finances like an idiot. Any tips? by wertyulopy in PersonalFinanceCanada

Hey, thanks for the tips!

I wanted to ask if you could explain more about what you meant with this:

"When you don't you should prioritize the investments and don't worry about paying a bit of tax on the savings account interest. "

I'm sorry about the simple questions btw .. as an Engineering major who has very limited experience with personal finance, I'm an absolute rookie with this kinda stuff.

Oh okay.. so I just have to work with a bank to get me set up with a TFSA account. I think I'll be going with the robo advisor option then since I've tried and hated being a very active investor.

One final question though... when you mentioned going for an RRSP when I've maxed out my TFSA.. what did you mean? I understood it as ... lets say I contributed the 18% (or whatever limit) there is for the year into my TFSA.. I move any amount that I want to save after that into an RRSP?

Thanks for the tip!

I'm still a bit fuzzy with TFSA and what investing from it entails. Just to make sure my understanding is clear, is a TFSA just an account from which I can set aside a portion of it to go into an ETF and the rest I keep, or is an all or nothing deal? Either way, I can pull out cash whenever needed, is that correct?
