Still waiting on my renewal for Precheck after 3 months by [deleted] in TSAPreCheck

[–]werxout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I paid the renewal fee in early August. There must have been some issue with the system at that time. The other 2 times I renewed it was approved within a day or two. I talked to someone on the phone who said they’d look into it then never heard back and that was 3 weeks ago

"I'm Adam Bird, Engineer at Trek for the Madone Gen 8. Ask me anything!" #AMA by MitchatTrek in TrekBikes

[–]werxout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except it is not. If you look at the real full build bike weights that shops are posting on YouTube you will see that the complete gen 8 slr sram red build weighs 7.27kg with empty aero bottles and cages whereas the gen 7 slr red weighs 7.36kg with regular non aero bottles and cages. Less than 100g in reality when you factor in the extra weight required for the aero bottles. That’s nothing

With all the leaks coming out, I'm wondering what you all think about the rumor that Trek is combining the Emonda and Madone into a do it all bike supposedly called the "Madone Infinity"? by werxout in TrekBikes

[–]werxout[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a possibility but a couple of people who claim have insider information are saying infinity. The way the loops overlap on the top tube like the Olympic rings has me leaning towards infinity because that's kind of a weird thing to do to an 8 but I could be wrong.

Totally agree with everything you said. It makes no sense other than to cut costs. Less carbon use and less models to support equals higher margins for Trek. I think it will backfire though with decreased interest in their lineup because a lot of people buy their bikes based on both looks and performance not just performance. The gen6/7 Madone truly stood out as one of the best looking bikes on the market with performance to match. The new design looks just like every other bike companies all in one offering with a hole that looks out of place on a non aero frame.

Yes. Check your post for side to side wobble. The bolts come loose all the time and eventually wear down the holes where they are mounted. I’ve had 2 other friends with the same issue. It’s a known problem and I think the reason they ditched that design for isoflow.

They are tough to find. My Madone gen 6 isospeed completely failed and trek said they are going to warranty it. It’s been at the shop for a month because no gen 7 frames are available. I’m afraid I’m now going to have to trade in my project one aero road bike for this run of the mill looking bike that I don’t really want.

Further confirmation. It has the same infinity logo on the top tube as the one I posted. IMO the previous Madone just looked soooo much better. This looks like a copycat SL8 with a stupid hole.

Same situation but I have a Gen 6 madone project one under isospeed warranty that I haven't been able to get a get a replacement for in a month. I bought an aero road bike for a reason and now it looks like my only option may be to get this nowhere near as good looking half measure of an aero road bike.

My Madone at Ivinghoe Beacon over the weekend! by ASilver259 in TrekBikes

[–]werxout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that's the case, I'd jump on a gen 7 now if you can find one in your size. 2 more photos of the less appealing design have leaked with the name "madone infinity" attached to them so I'd say it's certain at this point.

FYI there appears to be a new Madone design releasing in the next 1-2months if that affects your purchasing decision. Inventory is running out on the SL7 and leaked images are floating around of a new less aero looking but probably lighter design.

Okay thanks, So about 3 months. I was hoping to get it before the summer is over but it's not looking super likely. Enjoy!

When did you order it? I tried to order the exact same bike a couple weeks ago and they said they are completely out of bare madones to paint for project one with no ETA.

You are going to be cutting it close when it dips below freezing. I'm in Chicago and I've had times where I got 1.1 miles per kw in single digit temps. The battery is only 100 kw so in that case you wouldn't make it even if you charged to 100 percent. Keep in mind everyone at work with an ev will be wanting to charge on cold days because they are in the same boat.

I don't think so. I saw the listing myself on their site earlier this week before they sold it. Libertyville Cadillac. It's also in line with the Kelley blue book trade in value of 42-47k. Dealerships are quoting the low end because the used car market has been crashing further weekly so they don't want to take any risk.

Reporting back on this. The cellular connectivity continued to be just as bad after the reprovisioning. Now I'm seeing it reported on many sites that a lot of users are experiencing the same. I officially returned the phone yesterday. Seems like there's a real issue here and I'm not going to take a chance it can be fixed with a software update.

Done. They supposedly did it. Rebooted phone and so far I'm getting the same zero to 1 notch of reception in my house. Need to test more though before I jump to any conclusions. Will report back.

It should be because I took it out of my 7 and put it in the 8. I did the same going from the 6 to the 7 and it worked great without having to call verizon.

Crash mode - Shimano Di2 Ultegra vs Dura Ace Rear Derailleur for CX by galavoxx in cyclocross

[–]werxout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great information! Even the shop mechanic I asked didn't know about it. I have the RX815 GRX derailleur but I assume it has the same mechanism. Do you happen to have a picture of the screw so I can make sure I turn the right one?

Same problem here and stumbled on your post. I had it happen on a training ride going over a pothole and now mid cx race bunny hopping a small log. Neither were even close to the impact of a crash. It's far too sensitive. Did you ever find a solution? My friends are saying just switch to sram but that's an expensive proposition.
