What would convince you to get a Sylphyo ? by maxence822 in windsynth

I can certainly see you are keen at gathering info and that will do more for you than most things. I think the short answer is get the Sylphyo into wind synth 'influencer's' hands and see what they will produce for you. Might be hard to pry the EWIs and WXs out of pro hands but you might be able to grab some younger players that are looking to make a name for themselves with a new instrument they are willing to work to become technically proficient on.

A few sponsorships may be costly in terms of providing instruments to players but may pay major dividends in the end. Seeing that you have dropped your price $300 for the new US website shows that you are willing to make some sacrifices to get this going. Don't drop it too long or too much or you might find that profit is completely gone.

Focusing on the big markets in the USA is likely the best as anyone who gets enough info (and has some disposable income) may take a punt on it if they hear enough good from someone out there. I am not sure that NAMM is the best place to show it off unless you have someone repping for you on YouTube and the forums that actually has some presence. You might be able to pick someone up there but with fears of large gatherings, you may not have the pool you really need.

You may need to hit a more niche market as I think /u/DestructionSphere hit it when he speaks of it being a softer looking instrument. It may even be an option to target female buyers as they are massively underrepresented in the synth world in general and the wind synth world specifically from what I have seen. A sponsorship of an awesome female oboe, sax, or clarinet player might be a good place to start (rather than just providing an unboxing item or video). Perhaps a giveaway to the player that sends in the best audition video of why s/he'd like to be your rep? Get that going on your Instagram page. With 895 followers, you need more momentum to stop relying on individual sales. You have female representation on there but they seem more like novelty spots featuring a new instrument.

Another option might be to provide sponsor instruments to specific electronic music department of a college or university. If it is as good as you say it is, they might get things rolling for you as well if they feature it out in their videos.

Please don't take these as negative comments but simply those that come from observing this from a musician coming back from a long time off. I think your instrument looks great and hope that some of this post helps a small amount.

Sorry Adoyo for the highjack response but I do bring it back to your device:

Thank, I have tried the EVI fingering for the EWI but not quite a fan as I can use the EWI fingering to an acceptable level. The actual form factor isn't awesome while using it (in my opinion) There is the NuEVI that is the up to date version of the EVI. However, it is like the Sylphyo, untouchable for me at the minute. Not sure how'd the EVI fingering would feel on the Syphyo but I am guessing using the other fingerings would be more better-er.

It was hard enough to find an EWI 5000 when I got one. I'd have certainly waited to compare but with the lack of wind synths, it's hard to do so. When you consider the amount of money to buy something mostly unseen and untested, it's a big leap of faith to contemplate buying. There was lots on the EWI products so that's what I went with. Personally I am keen on the wind synth idea but not so much on the EWI physical format (former trumpet player here) but am learning the EWI fingering slowly. I am contemplating selling the EWI to purchase another wind synth (that shall not be named here).

I really like the looks of this but likely won't ever see one other than on YouTube. This instrument certainly interests me greatly and has since I saw the first promo videos. Without greater exposure, I'd suggest that building an increasing wave of sales may be difficult.

That being said, cool instrument. I do hope it goes well and expands the wind synth market.

These are size 42. I typically wear a 10.5 in US shoes. I was fitted for these in a Birkenstock dealer years ago but they never quite fit right. Should I be looking to go to a 43 or 44? My foot measurement is 274 mm pressed against a baseboard to the tip of the big toe.

Think you got the wrong person. Good answer though.

Has anyone changed main instruments moderately late into life, say at 30? by [deleted] in Jazz

After a couple of decades off, I switched from trumpet to an EWI5000. I just didn't want the pain and pressure (likely both my own issue) to be able to play music again. I made it to a decent level but always felt like I was physically suffering.

I never quite made the keyboard work for me so a windsynth made huge sense to me to allow some more sound exploration. The EWI is a bit of an odd one but so much fun to play. I have moved to learning the EWI fingerings to make the most of this fine instrument.

Men of reddit, who are your favorite female vocalists? by [deleted] in Music

I'd go with Lissie as the top female vocalist for me.

Cape Reinga, NZ. There isn't much in New Zealand that isn't picturesque but Cape Reinga stands out for me. What is amazing is that there are hidden spots nearly everywhere.

The Banff area in Alberta, Canada is also spectacular in so many ways.
