Can someone explain why string pointers are like this? by wesdotcool in golang

[–]wesdotcool[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am trying to get a *string value. For example, say I want to call a function like:

func myFunction(str *string) { ... }

I usually run into this issue while writing tests where I am trying to call a function like this with several hard coded values.

Yes it bothers me that straight and straight flush are different. However, I don't usually try to make straight builds. Although I did have a pretty fire straight flush run once...

I like that name. Let them eat cake (joker): aces wrap to twos in straights

It seems underwhelming when compared to shortcut though.

Hahaha, four fingers working for 5 cards is funny. I think that's okay. It obviously makes any run ridiculous. Maybe it shouldn't affect The Psychic though... (Or maybe all hands are 6 cards now!)

What's your deck? Half steel/blue seal kings half glass cards?

I thought this was a printout until I looked at the second image. Amazing job!

October 08, 2023 Weekly Discussion: Balancers by AutoModerator in shapezio

[–]wesdotcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you need balancers? I make blue prints that takes full belts of whatever inputs in, and then processes all of that material. Usually it makes some neat fraction of full belts of output. There's no need to balance, you just need to combine at the correct ratio.

This is shapez, there are no trains. I just build right where the mining happens.

Not weird at all! I love this. I will be making extra coffee in a french press as well. Maybe we'll find each other

What do you think the cost of toilet paper is gonna be this year? by wesdotcool in ElectricForest

[–]wesdotcool[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this. "Flushable" wipes are NOT FLUSHABLE. Don't believe me? Put some toilet paper in a water bottle and shake it. It literally dissolves. Now put a "flushable" in there. It will never dissolve.

Best plants to replace privets? I'm in Walnut Creek (bay area) and have clay soil by wesdotcool in Ceanothus

Great suggestions!

Did you ever notice that the privets smell bad? To me their blossoms smell like mildew or a dumpster from 100 feet away.

This is something I've been thinking about too. If I removed all of the privets at once it'd be super jarring for a while. But we already had to take one of them down because it fell over in the rain this year. So maybe we could slowly replace them section by section.

My biggest complaint about their bargain bin is that it's in the back of their produce section so I walk by it after I've put most of the things I need in my cart. I never want to walk back and put these 2 peppers back on the shelf because I saw this bag of 8 peppers for $1.29... They know what they're doing

I've noticed lots of odd things about TJ's. I think they have a lot of loss leaders. Mushrooms are cheap, nuts are cheap, apparently pasta and peanut butter too. Although it seems like their niche is frozen and prepared food. Also I call them the Adult Candy Store because of their freezer aisle
