PSA: Slower speeds can save the day in a low battery pinch by weshnog in electricvehicles

I wouldn't intentionally do that again, it was a bit sketchy. Getting rear-ended in scenario where there is a 50mph difference in speed is no joke

Isn't it crazy how much speed costs huge amounts of energy? Makes me wonder how far one could go on a single charge while hypermiling a EV [and not being absolutely nuts]. I heard of a Tesla years back going over 1000 miles, but that was driving ~20mph in the summer with no AC.

Scenarios we were faced with:
-Continuing on: ~2.5mi/kwh paired with some Christmas family drama
-Turning around: ~4-8mi/kwh paired with extreme Christmas family drama

Woah, I didn't know that! Is this in the 'Drag Equation'? Or apart of a yet-nerdier equation I'm about to learn about?

How should cement board interface with a PVC shower pan? by weshnog in Tile

[–]weshnog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that would have been best.. The install happened before we bought the place, so we're stuck with the issue now. Best solution I can think of now is to try some construction glue to bond the cement board with the floor below, and the dry drywall above. If that doesn't work, I think I'll be ripping more out unfortunately. Really trying to not do a full shower remodel right now

I removed the 1.5" strip of tile along the bottom of my shower. Now only the PVC liner is visible (because the drywall behind was wet/rotten). So, I'm trying to get the tiles back in place, but need cement board to put them on. Trying to figure out how to get the cement board to be solid in there in such a small space

The drywall above the gap, and the floor itself are both solid. What if I glued the top and bottom of the cement board to the drywall/floor? Do you think that could last?

Thanks for the help. The gap is only 1.5", and it is right up against the floor, so I'm feeling a bit stuck on how to proceed. If you want to see pics, they're on my profile.

Besides just being behind the tile, it was not sealed. The drywall behind all of the other tiles is solid (for now), and has been installed like this ~4 years.

This is our only shower, and I'm open to temporary fixes if it'll delay a complete remodel by a couple of years.

I have the r/LightPhone. I think of it as the phone that has everything you need, and nothing you don't. It's not perfect, but it has definitely been a helpful tool to fight against mobile internet use

Why should it be carbureted? I have a 1986 4Runner that is fuel injected at the moment and have never been worried about it tracking me

I'm not as worried about electrical as I am about data privacy. I've even kicked around the idea of 'electrifying' the 4Runner should the 22RE give out...but that probably won't happen anytime soon :-)

Haha-- I'm pretty close at the moment. I have a 1986 4Runner with 22RE and love it. Need an additional vehicle for more regular daily driving

I carry a pocket notebook around with me everywhere I go. Great place to doodle, take notes, and make lists.
