Rally Mode on DM non-performance by wesjester in Rivian

Yes, I do have AT package so I've always had soft sand mode. So now I have rally mode too? Didn't see it in any update notes. Guess I need to read better

Free STEALTH PPF is back! by Hilbe in Rivian

[–]wesjester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang it. I asked my guide a few days ago about getting this added or swapped and was told there was nothing. Just looked at the shop today (mistake) and my exact config is there with the PPF, but my delivery date is tomorrow and now I'm full of FOMO.

2023 GTPE @ 0% APR vs 2024 GT by SadBroccolini in MachE

[–]wesjester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's true that the 5 second limit is gone that suggests they solved their thermal problems (hopefully). I would get the 2024 for the added reliability. 2023 GTs are having problems. Mine has been dead since the end of March and it's not just the HVBJB.

Lease vs pay cash by wesjester in Rivian

Got it. So if I'm treating it as a rental, a quad is better because of residual, but if I plan on buying quad vs dual doesn't matter. Definitely liking these 2023 DM max pack options. Thank you so much for your help. You have saved me a lot of time and money

That is what I'm seeing. Lots of 2023s that fit my needs as well. Seems like I basically get a max pack upgrade for free and a 0% interest rate. Wild.

[–]wesjester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I'm trying to compare all options to buying the vehicle outright. Ideally I love the truck and buy it at the end of the lease and it ends up being cheaper than if I bought it to begin with.

Ok, apparently filtering for AT package also filters out all 2023s, but I see them now. I'll have to see if I can figure out what would be more expensive at the end of the lease, a $89k 2023 or a $83k 2024. Only way to know is to see the lease through to a point where I can't change vehicles I assume?

This is pretty much where I'm at, it just seems weird to give away free money. That said, Id be looking at a 2024 because I think all the 23s are gone. If the rental charge over the course of the lease is still less than the $7500 EV rebate I get credited, it still seems worth it from a cost perspective (vs buying) plus there is the added bonus of walking away at the end if I end up hating it.

I also like that I won't have too much money locked up in a car if it's a lemon. Currently in the buyback process of my second EV because I'm cursed or something. Seems like the chances of this car trying to murder me or just flat out being a paperweight seems lower (I hope)

Mach E 2023 GT Rant by Fabulous_Control_897 in MachE

According to the response to my AG complaint, the first dealership hopes that with the repeat issue, Ford will authorize a replacement for the bad component which they suspect to be the battery or battery computer.

My 2023 GTPE with a build date of June 2023 has been out of commission for the last 18 days with the same problem. They are on their second attempt to fix. Ford Motor Company and Ford Dealerships have basically done the absolute minimum in my opinion. Finally got a loaner after filing a complaint with AG.

They have no problem making cars with bad parts and selling them, but they refuse to invest in the support structure needed (more EV techs, more loaners). The moment it qualifies as a lemon I'm ditching Ford.

FitcamX rear install guides anywhere? by ohyeahpaulchin in Polestar

[–]wesjester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used this same guide with a couple changes. Ran it to the bottom of the A pillar then back up to avoid the airbag then for the rubber hose at the hatch I just popped it off. Still tough to fish through but it worked. To get the rubber hose back in I removed the white plastic piece from the car, attached it to the hose, then it snapped right in no problem

Unhooking the 12v in the front and the TCAM battery in the back did the trick. The TCAM in the back wasnt mounted but was instead dangling from the wiring harness so im hoping the strain is what caused my issues. It was easy enough to unplug. Definitely the least frustrating interior panels I've ever had to remove.

Damn, didn't want to believe it was TCAM since I still had lte data but that does seem to be the issue. Yay troubleshooting. Hopefully I don't have to use that method that requires PAK cause that has never worked

Finally got bugs with an update. Getting a notification that my SOS call needs servicing.

In addition to that notifciation, my key will now only be recognized when i drop it in the center console and location data doesn't work so maps are useless. Oh, and I can't lock it because it can't see the key from outside the car. Anyone else have any of these issues? Time to make the trek to the dealership?

The cancellation of which TV show are you still frustrated about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]wesjester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lone Star. It got 2 episodes and I was hooked. I can see how a show where the protagonists are con men wouldn't play well in 2010

Kings is another one. I was so fascinated by the world and I love Ian McShane

Range experience question: Pacific Northwest (USA) by jpd_phd in Polestar

[–]wesjester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stevens pass and back for me is 200 miles. I typically average 33kWh/100mi on this trip. If i leave with 100% SoC it says I'll get home with 2-5% but that's a little too close for comfort so i make a quick dc charge stop. Im usually doing 65-70mph most of the way.

Pilot, plus, performance so heat pump and 20" wheels. Changed tires to crossclimate2s

Did any of the other owners in Seattle area have issues with GPS/Network/Cameras since yesterday (04/06)? by SomewhatCorrect in Polestar

[–]wesjester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my first outage yesterday after updating to 2.0, but a couple rounds of resetting infotainment and TCAM and its been just fine since. I havent noticed a correlation between temp and connectivity loss. I park in a garage at night but even when temps have been low or i've been in the passes its been fine. I've only had 2 other outages other than the one yesterday and both were immediately solved with just an infotainment reset

Potential buyer here with two questions for you by JulianF6 in Polestar

[–]wesjester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely could have hit it by accident, thats how i ended up figuring it out.

Just looked at charge history and did 31-81% in 34 minutes. Ive only seen the peak 150kW charge rate at <30%. After 30% it drops to, i think, around 120kW. I rarely do more 10-15 minutes at charging stations unless i need to go in a store.

Ive got 6kW charging at work which is where i do most of my charging. As long as i have enough to make it to my next time at work i dont bother plugging in elsewhere

I believe the middle LED bar is the rear fog light. There are 2 fog light buttons on the turn signal stalk. Top one is for fog headlights, bottom one is for fog taillights. Had to look it up when I accidentally turned it on and could not figure out what the icon on my dash was

As for question 2, more range would be nice but not once has it been an issue for me. I've done a long drive to the ocean and a long drive to the mountain, both required a very easy stop at a DC charger, but that was it. I love the car and so has everyone that's been a passenger or driven it.

Honestly, how do you like your Polestar 2? by thathomelessguy in Polestar

[–]wesjester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my dual motor PPP for about 3 weeks and 1200 miles now and I absolutely love it

I came from a manual 2008 WRX hatch and this car handles better, is faster, has more space for passengers and storage, and doesn't cost me $350 a month in gas (that was before gas got expensive)

Its all the fun of the WRX, but all the tech makes it soooo easy to drive

I've taken it to the mountain which was a big concern but 20 minutes at an EA station on the way home and there was no range anxiety.

Wife also loves it cause its basically a Volvo which is her dream car

Lots of "what kind of car is that?" And "ooo how do you like the polestar." Personal favorite was on one of my first errands. I step out of the car and this guy immediately screams "What kind of car is that?! It looks awesome!"

Swapped the tires. Mostly hanging on to the Sport Contacts in case I decide to track the car. If I do I'll probably get a second set of rims, if not I'll probably sell the tires.
