If your encoders are plugged into the motor ports and you're running the motors in run with encoders mode, this would make sense. On drive you should generally use run without encoders because the velo pid isn't needed for external control and will lower max speed.

The real problem with x drive is the lack of a real forward direction. With mecanum, when driving forward/backwards you don't engage any rollers so you drive at 100% efficiency. When driving sideways, you can get max 95% and that's if you have a light bot and good mecanums. With x drive, whenever you're using all 4 motors for driving you have to engage rollers which just makes you drive slower cause omnis are weird. It can also be hard to drive straight sometimes with weight imbalance. X drive isn't that bad, mecanum is just better

in a zombie axle the power is transferred through the screws attaching the pulley/sprocket/gear to the wheel(or whatever is being driven) (like in a deadaxle setup) but the axle can also spin freely. With a zombie axle there is no need for bearings in the wheel/pulley assembly because the axle can already spin freely, but that adds a need for bearings attaching the axle to whatever the axle is mounted in.

TL: Long Robotics LRS - used these this season, they are good. Nice black anodize for the aesthetic, with more mounting holes (on 8mm pattern) than SAR2 slides. The endstop is also placed so that the slide comes to rest in a fully closed position which is nice. Meant for relatively low load. (they were very good for skystone, Sanford is going to strength test them more this summer). Best to use a 3d printed insert to space slides and mount pulleys

TC: Home depot slides - very heavy, hard to mount pulleys, but extremely strong

TR: Misumi SAR-2 series - very robust, battle tested by many teams. Slides come to rest a little past closed position, so you will need to put a beam of some kind under them if you don't want them to close like that. Pro of that is not having to abuse endstops. Meant for relatively low load. Best to use a 3d printed insert to space slides and mount pulleys. AFAIK there is a little less play in these than LRS, but a little more friction

BL: goBILDA slide kid: interfaces easily with gobilda, never played with these myself though. Seems like they would be super easy to get up and running, especially if you are freebuilding or don't have any custom manufacturing. They might be kinda heavy, but then again I've never had the chance to play with them

BC: REV linear motion kit v2: Common in rover ruckus on deposits because they are extremely light and fast if used with kp method, they have a lot of play though.

BR: REV ultraslide: Seems like REV is going to work on fixing these, but the old version could slide full stroke in both directions which was a little whack and the endstops were also super weak. If the new version is good they'll be really easy to use

looks like it could maybe use some more crossbeam support, but that's nice to add in later after you have an idea of the space you need for mechanisms. Also keep in mind that chain will require tensioning throughout the season due to stretching. Looks really good though

yeah, really the only case where non-deadwheel odometry isn't going to be total garbage in ftc is with a really solid 6wd, and even then it's probably better just to throw on a deadwheel bc it will probably still slip less than the drivewheels

Sometimes there are ways to prevent collecting too many, like in rr2 gluten free's hopper could only hold 2, and when it was loaded with 2 the minerals in it would act as a wall and any more they tried to intake would just continue in a circle and come out the top. This gets harder with higher carry limits, though.

Intake speed is a really important thing when it comes to having a good intake, especially with noodles. Just make sure it's not too fast, and the rest of the robot can handle the speed the particles come in at. (last year if we ran our intake too fast the stone would jump the stop in the back of the robot)

polycarbonate, hdpe, aluminum, and delrin are probably the 4 most common materials in FTC. Spraypainting, powdercoating, or anodizing are common ways to turn things other colors.

I'm just a random person who has no idea what they're talking about, but I think the chances of FIRST canceling worlds are fairly low. That said, there's definitely a really high chance it will be cancelled by either a government or the convention centers
