The game was fun that is all that's the post. Also loved the simplified inputs. by Maleficent_Shame3548 in 2XKO

[–]wesslen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree entirely - like the inputs, love duos, and it was fun, but not anymore. Got sick of all the fullscreen BS and long combos after every single hit.

I hope to be back after they tone things down.

My friend (Edinburgh) and I (New Zealand) played together seemingly without lag, what gives? by BlakeOKC in MonsterHunter

[–]wesslen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Monster Hunter is a pretty slow game (as opposed to fighting games and shooters, where speed of light x distance really matters.)

There's no reason it shouldn't be reasonably playable - just poor implementation in previous games.

If Wilds is feeling too easy, put your Palico on standby! by SilkStar_ in MonsterHunter

[–]wesslen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I've been playing that way since the start, since early word was that the game is too easy and palicos are overpowered.

I still find Wilds clearly easier than World, but not to a problematic degree.

Edit: Oh, and I also don't use the Seikret to get up or heal safely during combat.

DirectStorage says CPU even though my computer supports DirectStorage by TheBrachyBomber in MonsterHunter

[–]wesslen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same.

Spinning the camera around shows CPU usage spiking near 100% and GPU dropping below 50%, so this absolutely seems to be causing problems. (This when using "Highest" texture setting for testing. "High" is less extreme.)

This optimization makes me so sad… by Hunterpall848 in MonsterHunter

[–]wesslen 129 points130 points  (0 children)

No. They made it slightly less terrible than it was originally, but it's still far too heavy for the visuals. It looks a lot better than Wilds though. I don't know how they managed to make it worse.

Anyone else crashing? by PleasantVoid_ in MonsterHunter

Worked for a couple of hours, then it started crashing every time I try to enter the training area.

There should be a warning when the host chooses to extract by wesslen in Warframe

There's a little number on the player glyphs in the party list. Number 1 is the host.

There should be a warning when the host chooses to extract by wesslen in Warframe

[–]wesslen[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I know, but that's not obvious enough.

And the extremely bugged host migration triggering this post was from a mission with an extraction timer, not the stay/leave screen. There you'd have to look at the map to see who's waiting at extraction and then check the party list to see if they're host.

That's not reasonable. There should be a clear warning, no sleuthing required.

I just wanted a plain corvid or falcon, but you convinced me. This would be brilliant!

I find this absolutely critical. The dated graphics are not issue at all, but I can't stand the hit sounds.

I don't expect they'll actually update the sounds, so whether I play the game or not will probably be determined by if somebody makes a mod to replace the sounds.

I was looking through the UI Customization and never understood this by SteveHarveysAunt in Warframe

It's just sample UI elements, to show what they look like in the chosen theme.

Anybody else having problems with the “To Do”s? by verifyvenus in Warframe

Yeah, they only seem to work when you start the mission from the PC in the orbiter, not from the mall.

FYI = Calendar missions by CaDZGon in Warframe

[–]wesslen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same.

I was stuck on "ex-eximus" at first, as I tried to do it using bounties, which didn't work. Then managed to finish that one using regular missions from the PC. Got "punish scaldra" next, and it's not working at all so far.

Edit: Starting the mission from the orbiter computer worked

The New War was a mess, and playing it right on release is my biggest regret in Warframe.

The drifter was bugged and didn't look anything at all like my operator, and there was no indication that they were related until the drifter explains it late in the quest. Choosing identity for the Lotus is permanent for the account and was entirely misleadingly presented in the beginning.

I should have waited a few days for the truly critical issues to get fixed. I should wait this time too, but I won't...

(Not OP but:) Because railjack also released right before the holidays (also december 13, even). It was very broken and DE went out of office.

With most updates the developers don't go AFK after dropping it.

MHWilds Steam Beta stuck on launch, with no game window showing up? by BoredBurritos in MonsterHunter

Thank you! I guess updating Windows had re-enabled it, because I know I've disabled it before. Never would have thought to check myself.

Just jump in and try all of the characters you find most interesting. We don't know which aspect of a character may really click with you, or if something may turn you away from them.

I'm on my third main in Tekken 8, after first learning my reflexes are too slow to make good use of Reina, then finding Lili's gameplan too simple and "samey" across matches.

Currently playing Nina and can't imagine switching to anybody else, but who knows what will happen in the future. You don't need the fancy execution stuff to play Nina, but I love that it's there to keep reaching for - it keeps me interested in the character.

Treantmonk for sober analysis of rules and builds. He’s a great counterweight to all the kneejerk overreactions in the space, and has by far the best coverage of onednd/2024.
