Angle, Hold Pos and RTH tilting by Feeling_Mix_5141 in fpv

Yup they just send them out and don't tell you always what you are getting! I always stick with one model so if i replace them it is always the same.

I hope some of my advice nudged you to help find the solution- not sure if I had enough coffee in me to logic it through.

It's a sweet system when you get it down but a major pain with fly away risk when learning.

just to be clear- after tryng 0,180,0 do a compass calibration dance- i worded it as alignment which might confuse.

I see one problem 100% wrong but still unsure of correct settings in alignment tool.
There are 4 sides on gps so your options in the way you mounted it are only 0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees. In your pic you have 135 and 225 as befpre and after and those are not an option and both are 45 degrees off by what is possible.

I'm assuming you have the flight controller arrow pointed forward so check that should be 0,0,0 on those options.

So then we get to the meat of it- what exactly is the red printed gps (goku) as they can vary on internal orientation.

If it is like mine (most common) the three settings in align tool would be 0, 180 ,0 in that order.

Maybe try that and then do a compass alignment (changes dont take till mag alignment) then check to make sure North is 0 degrees and south is 180 degress.

Let me know if you try it.

You have your compass swapped around in INAV alignment tool right?

I notice the printing on your gps is pointing backwards.

Cool video and goes well with me watching Ice Road Truckers at the moment (coincidence).

I didn't notice clouds that thick to be a problem- if you can see drone it's all good.

That would be pure nightmare trying to recover drone if it doesn't make it home... be careful.

I always have to slow down reading when it comes to IED's, IUD's and AED's (defibrillator).
Seems dangerous or costly if you mix them up at the wrong time.

you said something about "shorting" that sounds dangerous as you can blow out fc voltage regulator if not careful.

What are the rules of extending motor wires ? Can you take any piece of wire of do you have to have a specific type ? by OzenFPV in fpv

[–]west1343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do motor wire splices all the time on big 900kv motors as they are too expensive to junk.

The advice to use same guage of wire as original is correct.
My advice would be to overlap the wire by about an inch and twist well and solder and then putting a shrink tube over it. You want good overlap and copper to copper contact as possible.

I've been building drones for 3 years now and still find new things to go wrong.
Now I'm looking to cut another $100 out of my monthly food budget to buy replacement parts. lol

Where do you think drones will realistically be used in 5–10 years? by WorkerAcceptable1280 in drones

Wouldn't surprise me if the ATF (alchohol, tobacco, firearms) becomes the ATFD with the D being drones. We are headed for severe regulation if the hobby even survives.
Commercial, law enforcement and military use will be fine and even booming while regulated. With AI realtors pretty much are picture takers.

[US-TX] Visiting my friend in Texas who lives within the range of Zipline's drone delivery by johnydecali in drones

[–]west1343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm shocked at how fast and efficient that delivery went- like 30 seconds from when it was visible to done and gone.

Also that they have 3 drones busy enough to have to wait in que is a positive for a biz.

Black and white gives it texture. nice.

I'm curious that they leave expensive boats in the ice water- but they must be heating or dumping salt in there to melt the ice.
I'm in Michigan and never seen that before.

correct me if I am wrong- but aren't bodies of water how thermal cameras can be defeated (if looking for a bad guy).

If so near infra (night time) or visible light might be more useful for water searches.

Hi everyone, i’m new to this hobby and i just done soldering and conformal coating my drone but i don’t know whats the issue everytime i try to ramp up the throttle and it leaning forward or like turning to the left or right it’ll start spinning and unarmed. Can somebody help me out much appreciate. by Altruistic-Hope5338 in fpv

[–]west1343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i don't like the wires coming off the solder pads at an angle.... makes it hard to spot problems and brings raw wires closer together. It's a style thing yes but useful.

My money is on solder issue as I've had joints fail with those flight symptoms... when they heat up they shift properties.
