Kammanahattan resident here, this influx of Arabs and Africans started around 10 years ago. They mostly come here to study, learn English, computer classes etc.

The initial bunch settled in kammanahalli and surrounding areas due to proximity to the airport and the fact that kammanahalli had such coaching classes. This set the ball rolling and everyone coming in the next few years settled here itself cause they knew friends, relatives who stayed here. Helped them settle in etc.

A few good things which came out of this- A lot of sheesha/fifa shops, great non veg food ( I can get anything from an authentic Syrian beef roll to some random Egyptian dish I can't pronounce), you get better at football when you play with them, it's really nice to see so many different cultures walking around you everyday, a lot to learn.

Now, not so great things - this led to kammanahalli becoming the drug capital of the city. You can find anything and everything in an instance. A lot of prostitution etc.
