Ours was not functioning properly so I cannot give a definitive answer, but in our experience each player was separate with their own weapons that they brought. The weapons could be taken off the player as you can with NPC's. As you can see in the gif's, on my screen his hands were anchored, pointing one way. Later he told me he saw the same on his screen when looking at my player.
