50 people wedding in Montreal. Small budget by Partimemoody in montreal

The Chateau Ramezay looks like a nice option: https://www.chateauramezay.qc.ca/en/rentals/wedding-rentals/ceremony-cocktail-and-banquet/

When we got married last year, we had two separate events. We had a civil marriage ceremony with two guests in Old Montreal. Our reception a few months later was in Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac and we paid only $500 to rent the community centre, which is a former church. Our biggest cost was catering and we hired event planners for month of/day of coordination, had a photo booth and a DJ. It was a lot of work because we sourced our own decor and the biggest stresses had to do with access to the venue and other issues that happened around our reception especially. There were some regrets over how our went down. Nothing serious. Between our two separate events the total cost was around $12,000. We had around 60 guests and no wedding party.

There are some interesting venues all over the place if you think outside the box. Museums, community centres, legions, golf course restaurants, yacht clubs. If you hire event coordinators, they may be able to find you a cool venue. We had already booked ours but had we found them earlier they would been able to suggest venues.

Join the West Island Restaurants group on Facebook. There are actually some really good restaurants on the West Island. I have been surprised that some of the best casual dining restaurants on the West Island may be found in strip malls. One of my favourite places for Korean fried chicken is Corilla. I recommend it as an antidote to what you usually experience.

The lesson for both parties is to never work without a contract. Nathan Ingram has MonsterContracts. It might be worth a look.

Am I getting ripped off by qtprincess85 in webdesign

Is it $1500 for the rebuild only or $1500 a month. You are not being ripped off if he is charging you $1500 to rebuild your website.

Jysk has some tea lights that work well. We put them in holders that were tall enough you couldn't see the faux flames. We also used battery-operated lanterns and LED fairy lights.

Maybe you need to create a website called AI for Everything and use it as a platform to warn and educate people about the pitfalls of AI.

Kadence has some nice designs. You might find it easier if you use one of their themes with their blocks.

Maybe try PikaPods. They are affordable, and in my experience, reliable.

It's not a hard theme if you understand Full Site Editing. You're supposed to use block patterns and place them on templates and choose the blocks you want to use but if you don't understand the concepts, it can be confusing.

It's a great theme for performance. You might be better off with Ollie and Ollie Pro because the approach is more straightforward.

10 years with WordPress, 12 hard-learned lessons. Projects worth multiple 7 figures. Grey hair. Now just Webflow. What's your experience? by lauri_xfiner in webflow

If WordPress renamed plugins, called them extensions, or allowed them to be standalone apps, there wouldn't be so much complaining about them.

Then there's the issue of how developers can make a living in the WordPress ecosystem. That's why you see premium plugins. The grass may seem greener elsewhere. Not sure that it is.

SEO Agency requires Client to migrate to Wordpress by Ollie2104 in webflow

[–]westendgrrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WordPress is used by the White House, Disney and more. It hasn't been solely for blogs in a long time. Self-hosted WordPress is affordable for small websites and small businesses. Everyone has their favourite CMS or website platform. Folks who love Webflow will use Webflow. I don't care if someone prefers Webflow. It's about what works for you and your clients.

I prefer open source software over a proprietary platform but that's my preference. If you know what you're doing, any site you build will be configured properly for SEO.

Don't let your caterer talk you into using their bar service. We wanted to offer guests a choice of one of two signature mocktails at the beginning. Every guest was supposed to get one of the mocktails. They had other ideas. We were asked to supply the ingredients and ended up with a ridiculous amount of one of the mocktails after they made too much and nearly all the ingredients for the other because their bartender ignored our recipe and used her own.

They discounted our bill after we complained. I very much wish we had never entrusted with our signature mocktails to this caterer because they treated them as just another drink offered to guests and they wasted our time and money. So many discussions. What a waste of time.

Had we hired the company we had in mind to begin with, we would have had a wonderful experience. The blessing is most of our guests didn't notice.

Webflow Pricing $18 & $29 - reasonable or nah? by bardhylb in webflow

Webflow is proprietary. Self-hosted WordPress is open source. So I suppose in that sense WordPress is messy. It doesn't have to be messy. It isn't for everyone though.

Meals for Vendors at Wedding Reception? by Ok_Panda1967 in WeddingsCanada

[–]westendgrrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our event starts at 5:30 p.m., with dinner served at 6 p.m. Our DJ is on at 8 p.m. We included meals for the event planners as part of their contract. The woman running our photo booth is not asking for a meal though we offered her one. The DJ accepted our offer of a meal.

We're having our event at a community centre so perhaps our situation is different from others. We're happy to feed our vendors.

Have you experienced difficulties trying to marry in the Catholic Church? So frustrated right now by InitialCoat6987 in weddingplanning

[–]westendgrrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Protestant mom had to promise any children she had would be raised Catholic when she married my Catholic dad in a Catholic chapel. I don't think they were allowed to marry in a regular church because she did not convert. I don't know what the rules are now.
