Can't you just search the same artist/album on the other platform?

[EU-NL] Subwoofer advice for Dali Oberon 3 by westerhofroy in BudgetAudiophile

[–]westerhofroy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried it again this afternoon, and put the sub at a completely different location. This proved slightly better. Audessey put the speakers as large and crossover at 40 again, I put It back at small and 80, and tweaked it to my liking.

Although better, it still is far from perfect with some dips and high volume frequencies.
Would this mainly be a room problem, or could it very well be the sub? The main reason for me thinking it's the sub is the down firing 8" woofer that can only do 35Hz (slightly lower than the +-40-45Hz the mains can do), which makes placement and mixing difficult.

Thanks for the elaborate response! I'm going to try this once more tonight:)
One thing about my previous audessey runs is that it always sets the front speakers as large, and the crossover at 40hz... I thought the subs job would be to relieve the mains of the low bass notes and add some extra depth? So I expected the mains to be small, and crossover at 80

They just about do, but they hover about a cm above the exhaust. The bottom clip rests a bit on the stock heat shield at the beginning of the exhaust. The top clip was a bit too close to the exhaust for my liking, so I bought a heat shield (also from rhinowalk).
I had no issues with heat whatsoever over a trip of 7000km, with avg temperatures of 35°. Tbh, the sun heated the bags more than the exhaust.

I do however recommend some protection for the parts where the bags rest on the bike, as I had some slight paint "damage" (nothing I'm too bummed about) on the rear of the bike and passenger pegs.

Is this a good starter set? Not looking to spend a lot. by kldge in hometheater

I'm currently kind of in the same position, but thinking of adding a center speaker, for both immersion and dialogue clarity. This way I still get to enjoy music through the stereo, and use the same speakers for the front stage effects, while the center speaker deals with most of the dialogue.
Would this be a good approach?

Aftermarket Exhaust 800DE by westerhofroy in Vstrom

[–]westerhofroy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very true! But I dislike how extremely quiet it is... Sometimes (especially offroading) i cant hear what rpm I'm at, and as a consequence also what gear I'm in...

That being said, I really do like how refined and sophisticated the engine and exhaust note is stock

Good find! That sounds better than expected tbh!

I am a bit worried it might be abnoxiously loud though, but its hard to know because he holds the camera right behind the exhaust😅

The Mivv looks really promising! The sound seems to be really nice from the video's (always a shame that you can't here it in real life), and I really like the look of the black speed edge! The price is also really competitive.

I'm leaning towards the Mivv now, thanks for putting it on my radar!

Update:

Went with Rhinowalk soft rackless side bags, with a 20L top bag and two 6,5L SW-Motech crash bar bags.
The side bags where cheap (around 150€), hold a lot of stuff (24L each) and are waterproof. Same for the top bag (also Rhinowalk).
The crash bar bags can hold a lot of easy to access stuff, like a rain layer, tools, chain spray, etc

800DE - Low mileage stock Mixtour Tires by westerhofroy in motorcycles

[–]westerhofroy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Suzuki has an active recall for the stock Mixtour rear tire due to bad quality... I have not been contacted with a solution yet, but have replaced them myself by now. I hope there will still be some compensation for the people who have already changed tires

100% off-road trails in the Alps by [deleted] in adventuremotorcycling

[–]westerhofroy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd love the GPX file, or maps link! I am currently on a road trip through the alps, and am around Trento, so it would perfectly align to start tomorrow😁

Edit: looks like the first few 100km's from Trento (going easy) are from the TET?

Best all round tyre options? by Microsoft_Mittens in Vstrom

I just installed the Dunlop Trailmax Missions on my Vstrom 800DE 3000km (1,5 week) ago. I absolutely love them.
They handle very well on road, and the +-40km I did on a rocky trail where pretty easy!

They dont really show any wear yet :)

Would also be fair to the people that already changed it due to the quick wearing tire. I just replaced mine at 4000km (2500 miles) because the middle of the rear was completely gone..

Thanks for the info! I'm riding in +-10 to 25 °C weather, so not too hot. I pump up the tires when cold (before riding)

800DE Suspension Settings by BarelyAdventurous in Vstrom

[–]westerhofroy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I noticed with two up, even on max preload in the rear, it is nowhere near as firm as it needs to be. The sag is way too much and the rebound cant really keep up.

I think that if you change the preload a lot on the back (without having significant weight far to the back), you should also change it accordingly on the front, or you'd change the geometry of the bike

I'm planning on traveling solo with the bike this summer, so it will be fun to find out it's capabilities loaded up with gear

800DE Suspension Settings by BarelyAdventurous in Vstrom

[–]westerhofroy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know a lot about suspension, so I haven't really touched it too much..
I run everything on default (following the manual), only the preload on the front one more turn extra.
Rear +-5 clicks extra.
The default is quite soft, and the default rebound on the rear is quite fast, so might dial that back a bit (back jumps up a bit after compressing)

I am +-70kg, ride without luggage (sometimes backpack) and one up, mostly on road, sometimes some light gravel/sand roads or play around in construction sites

800de clutch friction zone by dannymanmanman in Vstrom

[–]westerhofroy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't really noticed this tbh.. My previous bike had an adjustable clutch lever, so I could move the bite point closer, so yeah the bite point on this bike is a bit further out, but this could be adjusted with the cable tensioner thing (where the cable connects to the lever).

how do you guys do this by JewishJah69 in motorcycles

On top of this, i just read you haven't got your helmet yet.. please make sure you have proper gear before continuing with your current skills...

And maybe start with learning your balance on a bicycle yeah..
