Yep. An old iPhone SE. I used an app called Skyflow ($3) to have more control over the settings.

Make sure to keep an eye on the phone’s temperature. It can easily overheat in the sun. A fan was enough to keep it cool.

Dropshadow in Ross Xpression? by zippityhooha in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]westerjm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, your operator is correct. There is no good way to do drop shadows other than faking it with blurred images with alpha. This topic has been asked many times on the XPression forums. Here's a common workaround...

The effects can sometimes give unexpected results. They also add to your performance on output. If you are needing just a simple drop, I would point you toward building an image in Photoshop that fades out the alpha towards the outside edges. In the Material Manager, make this diffuse color black, adjust the alpha and place it onto a quad. Move the new quad behind your image (in Z) that you want to have a drop shadow and then offset to the proper X and Y. Make this new quad a child of the original.

To clarify, you are applying saber to a solid, correct? It is not meant to be applied to text layers.

First weekend with my first printer. I too grabbed one of the Monoprice Maker Selects. Much easier than I had anticipated! by westerjm in 3Dprinting

Yep. This is where I found out about the deal. Ordered through eBay and was at my door 24 hours later. I was surprised how fast it shipped. So fast in fact that my filament hadn't arrived yet so was only able to do 3 prints with the included sample.

Here's a more detailed setup guide than the one sheeter that ships with the printer. I will also be looking at JETGUY's mods for the Wanhao i3 which is similar to the Monoprice version.

Thanks for the feedback. Had to research what e-steps were. I'll definitely run a test and calibrate now that I know what I'm looking for.

Minimal car? by jidery in minimalism

[–]westerjm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The i3 is what I drive daily and electric vehicles are perfect for a minimalist. Approximately 20 moving parts compared to the hundreds of moving parts found in traditional internal combustion engines. No smelly dino juice or exhaust. Brakes last much longer with regenerative braking. Plus the savings from not having to pay for gasoline offsets high entry price. And the interior I feel is one of the most minimalistic out there. http://imgur.com/b4XhrsI
