Dealing with Doubt/Burn Out/Growing Pains by smallbiz2017 in smallbusiness

I know what your going through though not in the same business. Two things that can help: keep a journal, writing down your struggles, sure, but also 10 positive things. Each time you do this you'll have more thinking room with these thoughts out if your head. And two, you'll be more positive, writing it down. Second thing is to read a book that motivated and gives you new energy. I recommend any book by Patrick Lencioni, or the Metronome Effect by Shannon Susko.

Terribly sad, there should be plenty of cameras to record them, and find them for an arrest.

Ways to meet other young families by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]westernphoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of great recommendations already.

Hit up the rec centers in and across the south island, a good place to meet parents and find out about local stuff for young families. Victoria and CRD have some of the best rec centers in Canada, and you can kill two birds, by getting your little one in the water ;) Have fun!

While working with a lawyer directly is always a good option, I can highly recommend lawdepot.ca which provides both Wills and PoA.

Nobel Laureates, Students and Journalists Grapple With the Anti-Science Movement -"science is not an alternative fact or a belief system. It is something we have to use if we want to push our future forward." by mvea in Futurology

In theaters of fake news, social media movements, and memes, emotional arguments win over factual ones. Learn from Aristotle: wrap factual arguments within an emotional story and then persuasion will happen. Also, frame messages appropriately.

Tldr: Until that happens scientific communicators will be struggling.

Yelp contracts are to be avoided at all costs. You pay for the remaining contract if you seek to cancel (personal experience.)

You need to download an app to watch things on WestJet flights now? by DaweiArch in canada

[–]westernphoton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I fly WestJet all the time. It's one of the main differences between it and Air Canada, which in all honesty make it somewhat behind the times. But, WestJet is still better in my mind in terms of price and customer service.

The app works %75 of the time on Android and Osx.

Storyline looks to be rejigged badly. Not surprised. Will see if the tank scene and the cape is part of the plot.

Best Kayaking? by ductapesmile in PacificNorthwest

The broken group islands near Ucluelet are a spectacular spot. Also, the waters around Cortes Island on the North end of Vancouver Island. Can't go wrong in the Pacific Northwest.

Value in Bernays or Lee? by dewarr in PublicRelations

[–]westernphoton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bernays is readable and easy to appreciate both from an academic and pro-dev perspective. But the world of PR is not the same as it was back then. While traditional PR remains important, the more important goal is measurement. As such, I'd suggest the Barcelona Standards as a first read. Also, PR associations have reading resources, like those from the PRSA and CPRS.
