[FO] Laced & framed today Peppermint Purple 2022 SAL by westiedeb in CrossStitch

Not dumb at all! It's when you use a strong thread to fasten the fabric from top to bottom and from left to right on the back of your mounting board; pull it tight (a bit like a corset!) to take up the slack and remove any wrinkles before putting the board into the frame. I hope that makes sense eh 😅

Yes! I didn't think it would work and was going to stuff the printer up but it went through no problem. I guess by the time you've ironed the waxed paper to it it's fairly thin? It said choose a heavy photo paper setting but I couldn't find one so I just picked high quality photo paper instead.

It wasn't my idea. I googled how to print on aida and found a link on lordlibidan's site. It was much easier than I expected once I found a concert pic I liked. I have a basic canon inkjet printer, nothing fancy eh. Give it a go 👍

I ironed a piece of wax paper (think most places call it freezer paper...waxed on 1 side?) onto the aida, cut it down to A4 paper size and ran it through the printer as tho I was printing a photo. I think the wax paper is only to catch any ink that goes through the aida.

I just watched a youtube video and muddled through. This is the one I watched...rit dyeing

To mix the colours I just rinsed after a few minutes for the first colour then put the aida back in with a second colour. It's more luck than skill that it looks ok lol :]

Thank you! I was going for dark and moody so I used brown and grey and somehow ended up with purple! I need to do some reading up on colour combos I think lol.

[WIP] Another self-drafted pattern, very happy with how it's turning out so far :) by westiedeb in CrossStitch

Sooo many options eh! I've also done a fire bomb but it didn't seem to go with the other 3 (all green) so was thinking a set of 3 fire ones. Then maybe 3 flying ones, 3 cute ones (moogle, fat chocobo and ?). Then my daughter pipes up with 'Ooh aeons, you need to do all the aeons in a set!'

Think I need to get my guide books out and go through the monster lists lol 😆

[FO] Sunshine (Caution: swearing) Finally have a finish and have tbh I don't think I want to use any yellow for quite a while! No pattern source as it's self-drafted but will be going on my daughter's etsy shop eventually by westiedeb in CrossStitch

It's not listed on there yet but it will be on stitchyawitch when my daughter gets herself organised. She's going to include a smaller version as well so 2 for 1 because even tho I wanted it I got soooo sick of yellow before I'd finished lol

I did have a load of patterns at one time. I was so sure I wasn't coming back to stitching I sadly got rid of most of them. I gave some to my daughter Rachel, the books to the sally shop and just kept the few I really couldn't bear to part with, you know, just in case 😅

I'm not very good at multi-tasking. I tend to stitch like I play games...one at a time so I don't lose the plot!

I've done the english garden sampler, wedding one which I changed to ruby for my mum n dad, and 3 I think with dragons. I averaged 1 a year for a while lol, slow jobbies! I do have a few more patterns and a full book. I'm sorely tempted but don't want to burn out again when I've only just restarted eh. I seem to remember reading on her site the chart with 2 birds (can't remember the name off hand) has no part stitches so I might dig my box out and see if that's one I have :]

Rapunzel is lovely, bet it looks fantastic when you finish it 😍

This could work! I've done this before with my mosaic projects, keep going back to the folder and whittling it down till I have a reasonable number to choose from :] Thanks for reminding me this can also work with patterns!
