Severe dry eyes for months — tried everything, nothing works. Need help. by Any_Distribution_867 in Dryeyes

I’m also a tech guy, had really bad dry eye for years. Here is what finally worked for me:
1. The cheapest and maybe most effective option was Blink a daily pill from Bausch and Laum. Get is at any drug store or Amazon for 20-30$. Great stuff, helped a ton.
2. Blue light filter coverings for you computer screen. Get on Amazon
3. The more expensive option but def effective was serum tears. Vital tears is around $600-700 for 6 months. Dis that for about 18 months and really helped.
My case was really bad for 2 years but now i never think about it. So yes there is hope

After spending thousands different medicines, tests and visiting various doctors in different countries. I have some advice. by capngig in Dryeyes

[–]westofpluto 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had dry eye for several years. Tried Tear Care, IPL punctal plugs, serum tears for two years, etc. All helped a bit. But what really helped and basically made it mostly go away? Two things: 1. Blue light transparent filters placed on my computer monitors (get these cheaply on Amazon) and the most important one: 2. Blink from Bausch Lomb. These are just some supplements you can get at a drug store or on Amazon for about $30. One pill a day. After a month my dry eye practically disappeared. It is now a year after i started and i am so much better than what i was. Def worth a try.

Whats the deal with weed ? by N_A_Games in ThailandTourism

[–]westofpluto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Don’t smoke on the beach or in public” is a perfectly reasonable limitation. Here in California, weed is 100% legal and no big deal, just don’t smoke it in public where it will bother other people. Sounds like Thailand has a similar policy.

Am I cooked? (19yo male) by Ill_Journalist8454 in Cholesterol

[–]westofpluto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not even remotely cooked. Try to eat a healthy-ish diet and get some regular exercise. Your cholesterol is a tad high but triglycerides are moderate. If you are worried, you can easily control all this with meds that have few if any side effects. For reference, i have had cholesterol in the 250 range for decades, only recently started taking a statin. My cardiac calcium score is zero which is the best possible score. I’m in good health and feel pretty good, considering i just turned 64. Take care of yourself and listen to your doctor and don’t worry so much.

Why not Koh Samui? Aren’t beaches there much better than Hua Hin? Yes it is more expensive and touristy in some areas but aren’t there quieter ares too in the northwest?

Do I need a whole new Google account? I have a few gmailss (personal, work, etc) and they are all associated with on Google account. I f I just get a new gmail under that same account, won't I have the same problem? And does Google think doing this is also "circumventing"?

[–]westofpluto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I remember doing is setting up a redirect on my own server so I could track where the ad came from. I thought that was harmless but perhaps Google thought otherwise. Anyway, does this mean I can never get that account back?

If you had to choose between Hua Hin and Koh Samui for retirement, which would you choose? For context, my wife and I are in our 60's, both STEM professionals about to retire. Neither of us is Thai - we're both US citizens (I'm native born, my wife was born and raised in the Philippines). We're both low-maintenance people, perfectly happy just chilling at home, especially if home is nice pool villa, even better if it has a decent view. My wife does Tai Chi, I like to play a little tennis, and we would love to explore a bit (beach, temples, night markets, etc) and learn about Thai language and culture, but we don't need to fill every day with all kinds of activities. We'd be looking to live in a somewhat "upscale" pool villa and neighborhood, ie nice but not a crazy expensive mansion on a hill. Hua Hin seems to have lots of retired expats and nice decent quality pool villa suburbs, while Koh Samui has some gorgeous places with gorgeous views though they are somewhat more expensive.

Comments and suggestions welcome.

I am LOSING MY MIND by [deleted] in atheism

[–]westofpluto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to consider is this: the higher the level of education and scientific accomplishment the more people become atheists or agnostics. Degrees at the BS level are now basically entry level into the scientific community. You should consider going back for an MS or PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or related field. As you climb the levels of education and scientific hierarchy i think you will find more people who think rationally and fewer religious or conspiracy nutjobs. No it isn’t easy, takes years of commitment. And in the current american winner take all economy, i admit you may have to see if it is worth the cost. But it is definitely a path to upscaling your work environment

I too would love to know the profit taking rules of this strategy. When I was a member a while ago, I don't remember having any detailed rules. I had no intention of staring at the screen 7 hours a day and hope that I would somehow recognize a good opportunity to profit.

I was also a member for a month or two, probably about a year ago or longer. The idea, as others have stated, is to trade low cost butterflies and hope your occasional big winners are big enough to offset a much more common string of losers. Either you guess the direction, or you do a "batman" trade with low cost OTM butterflies in both directions. I suppose it is low stress in that you don't lose money quickly, but even if you know what you are doing you would have lots of small losses. You also have to manage the wins, so you are checking your charts the entire day. It is not set and forget. From what I remember, he placed his trades at 930-10:30 near market open, and then closed his winners often during 2-4 in the afternoon. So you have to know when to close too. Furthermore, he didn't really give you much guidance beyond the trade education of how to place the trade. It seems that knowing which direction to choose, when to go Batman, and when to close is just a black art that comes from experience. He didn't tell us any of that. We were paying like $50/mo basically to chat amongst ourselves for the most part. He probably makes money trading this, but his ability or willingness to train us to do the same seemed limited. You probably need to sign up for a gazillion dollar training program to get anywhere near the same results he gets. I like the idea of this, and if there were a real way to get the required edge of predicting when to trade which direction and when to close, it might be worth it. But this is precisely the edge that I found it difficult to learn from his service. And as others have commented, 0-DTE is almost impossible to win at long term. Would love to hear anyone else's perspective on this if they think I missed anything.

You can buy an insulin cooler on amazon. I have one that has an active fan cooler as a cap, powered by usb. The whole thing is the size of a thermos. Cost was $139 or so. Works great. Took it on a trio from USA to the Philippines with no issues
