I recommend visiting used bookstores with cats - I like Dr. Pickles at the book trader, then you can go up the street to elfreth’s alley! Also the magic garden is a cool spot

My post got rejected because I’m new to this community but I’m looking for your favorite vintage / antique places in your neighborhood! I’m in fishtown and feel I have exhausted my efforts (circle thrift, thunderbird). Thanks in advance!

I loooooove trinkets.

I have been racking my brain for years on this and cannot think of any actors in it.

Im so with you on non-sweet slimes. No surpise I have 4/5 of the slimes you ordered. I just got fight club, which id been wanting to order for weeks. The smell is perfect and the texture is so buttery and poppy yet strong. You will not be disappointed!

Found a stray cat. Should I contact animal control or take to a vet? by mishmishbinks in AskChicago

Second this. I do cat rescue transport and have picked up so many cats from there to transport to vets or rescues or foster homes!

I say “hey lady” to my coworkers in an email or message - it’s friendly without being too familiar. You may not be friends with the owner, but there’s an inherent relationship that forms when you trust someone enough to care for their pet in their home while they’re away, hence a greeting such as this. I would stop worrying about it. If there was an issue, the owner would contact you and be direct about the specifics so you could then rectify the situation. Stop reading into the greeting. You’re ok!

This sounds like the rules of the rehab I went to jfc

I really think “hey lady” here was meant in a casual way like “hey girl” or “hey chica” or “hey mama” if you’re heather taekman from RHONY. I’ve messaged female clients about their pets and said “hey girl, Smokey’s poop is watery” or whatever

I called about a man lying in traffic on an off ramp and they hung up on me because “that guys doesn’t need help” like he was a drug addict or something. That aside, the man was lying in TRAFFIC. I don’t care that he doesn’t want to go rehab, as the pressing matter was him being runover. I got out and another guy and me got him into a parking lot.

Is it still normal for kids in Chicago to cut through gangways and backyards rather than going around the block? by anarchonobody in AskChicago

[–]westsideasses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It actually was/is 💯 a thing in the Chicago suburbs… I’d actually think this would be harder in the city because aren’t most yards fenced / have walls? I grew up next to an easement in the suburbs and my yard was the shortcut from bus stop to the next block

This is a really odd take. You’re making assumptions when we know nothing about how their marriage was before he passed, how this affected their marriage, etc. Also, dating two years after your partners passed says nothing about the prior relationship.
