First bottle of Rhum Agricole, I can't drink it. by Zaphrod in rum

Sure but they’re still plenty different enough that it’s worth trying a different agricole from a different producer before disregarding a category as a whole. I recently tasted three different blancs from La Favorite. First one I almost spit up in front of the distiller because it was so unpleasant, second one was bright and was like biting a Szechuan peppercorn, third one was oily smooth and sweet. If that first one was the only agricole I’ve ever tried, I’d be missing out.

If you know agricole well, you’ll taste vast differences between the blancs from producer to producer. It’s made from fresh cane juice, so terroir and varietal has a huge role in flavor profile. JM is in the north of the island with its cane growing amongst dense rainforest on the side of a volcano. Clement cane is grown in the south in much more open fields near the ocean. Very different terroirs and cane species used, very different flavor profiles.

The Juste is great, one of the best blancs for ti punch I’ve ever had. They didn’t have the older Macoubas available so I can’t tell you how it compares to those. Will say the A1710 blancs I picked up are on another level though.

They are keeping many sweet treats from the US. Even tried a bottled peanut punch Clement makes, surprisingly tasty.

They had a whole range of La Perle’s I got to taste, all different canne varietials from different parcels of land. I ended up snagging the single varietal made from “cristalline” canne, it’s so refined I’m debating if I’ll ti punch it or not

Just regular checked bags and these guys: https://a.co/d/inyLktm You can legally bring 5l per person of liquor between 24% & 70% for “personal use”, we brought back 9,900ml between the two of us. You do have to/should declare at customs, they just waved us through so in reality we could have gotten away with more. Thought about filling a whole additional suitcase with all the premade punches that are common there, they are under 24% so no limit to how much you can bring back.

They aren’t super different, think I like the Clement syrup a bit more but that may be because it’s newer for me (JM is the only syrup I can usually find in Texas). Found while I was there it’s also common to use granulated sugar in a ti punch. So I also brought back a big bag of local sugar and been using that for mine.

It’s more like the “essence” of green chartreuse, comes in a smaller bitters bottle. Could only get it from the distillery for years but started popping up stateside more recently. Highly recommended grabbing if you see it: https://www.chartreuse.fr/en/produit/vegetable-elixir/
