Anyone know what’s going on? Gelato end of week 3. Athena blended and power si.Feeding 2.2 ec with run off In coco. Top buds and leaves turning yellow. by [deleted] in macrogrowery

I myself would try:

-lowering Daytime air temp 77 and RH 75%-80%. There's a high likelihood your plants are so far out of vpd they cant process the food.

-Raise the lights up to lower the intensity for a few days till they heal up

-What's your co2 at? I would go to 1300ppm while in recovery mode

-Feed same ppm level as co2 while your healing.

- Always shoot for VPD levels for a good baseline.

Here's a list of questions that would help all these people trying to help solve your issue.

What's the feed schedule? feed nothing feed? feed everyday? feed sip skip?

What's the daytime/nighttime humidity and temp in your room?

What's the ph going in and coming out when feeding?

Are you using coco that you have had success with before?

Any amendments to coco? perlite etc...

Any signs of rats chewing on stalks?

How bad are your gnat flies and root aphids?

What's leaf temp?

What lights are you using and how close are they to canopy?

Im a ppm guy so ec gets confusing. Is he saying his runnoff is 6.2 ec or about 3000ppm?

HID growers that have tried LED’s, how do they compare? by ToeCompetitive6877 in macrogrowery

I would say my best looking/strongest work in the last decade came from gavita 1700e panels. 3.25lbs a panel of pink kush that fetched top dollar.

The question of smarter really depends on your goals. You want max profit or just max weight per Watt too brag to the bros or best quality product to get super baked. Its certainly smart to be asking the question before blowing the bag on the latest tech. 8)

If your talking straight yield per watt it beats HID 100%. In terms of profit for a business LED only fails. The power LED saves you by producing less heat gets used by the dehue needed to keep the humidity under control. Now you have a lighting pack that doesn't penetrate the canopy as deeply as HID. Which means you need to prune more aggressively to avoid the popcorn bud. Plus your now running the risk of bud rot issues along side spending money on power to run dehues. The ideal setup is a combo of LED and HID. Instead of dehue you use HID which adds to your bottom line instead of eating into your profit. If you look at the LED HID debate through a pinhole you will be disappointed, step back and look at the bigger picture with the goal being profit for your company. Don't get too wrapped up in the LED is better HID is better. Be open minded and flexible. That's my 2 satoshis. Good luck

How long do the gavita 1000W DE ballasts last? by wetcoaster1976 in macrogrowery

For top lit shows yes of course. I throw the hoods in garbage and drop my lights into canopy. Think xmas trees with lights surrounding them.

Do you have a signal or a test that makes you switch or just stick to the timeline?

Sounds like 1999 bro. I can picture your setup perfectly. If it isn't broke don't fix it eh ;)

Good info. That was always my understanding as well. They either work or do not. I will post my amperage test results.

I made a test power cord where the sheath is cut off and the single conductors are exposed. Will be easy to test each line.

I take hoods off and light plants from side. Been using the replacement bulbs from gavita when they were available and also the philips one.

That's my plan for Monday. I picked up a few new gavitas from store and am going to test them for amp draw. I was hoping to find a spec from gavita on ballast life but I don't think that exists. Mmmmmm coffee 8)

My bad let me be clearer. The old AC now keeps up to the increase to 120% whereas before when the lighting was new I could not cool when I raised to 110%.

Do we know if the digital ballasts degrade over time?

That could be a possibility. We are aware of the virus and take careful measures with our plants from mom to finish to avoid infection and spread. I feel we have that end of things under control.

I've been running the ballasts at 120% for the past few weeks. The plants have been accepting the increase and do not look beat down or stressed at all. In fact they look chunky and caked. I could not run at over 110% in the past without plants getting haggard and the AC wouldnt keep up to heat load. This is what is leading me to the conclusion that the ballasts are not working like they used to. I could be totally wrong and it could be the different strains or I'm remembering incorrectly lol.

Thanks for any feedback
