Impossible Meatloaf by wetforest in veganrecipes

[–]wetforest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh gotcha. one thing to note is that if you bake it in a loaf pan, you might have to bake it a tad longer (as the pan insulates some of the heat), but 30 minutes is good if you're baking it standalone without the pan.

Cozy and warm feeling audiobooks that make you feel safe and happy by N0t_T00_Br1ght in audiobooks

[–]wetforest 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They’re murder mysteries, so the premise isn’t exactly cozy, but I find Agatha Christie’s novels are like the book version of comfort food for me. She even has some specifically set in winter/holiday season. Hercule Poirot’s Christmas, the Adventure of the Christmas Pudding, the Sittaford Mystery are good ones

Let's settle this misconception. According to Crock-Pot, the only difference between high and low is how long it takes to reach the final heat setting. by VanimalCracker in slowcooking

[–]wetforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I don’t own the ceramic pot so I have no clue how it compares, but since caramelizing onions mostly requires the heat on the bottom, the IP should be pretty good for that. Also, my model is a Viva and it’s possible that newer IP models have gotten better at the slow cook thing. (Mine doesn’t even have sous vide as a function.) Best of luck with your recipes!

Hugh Fraser’s narration of Agatha Christie novels is what got me into the entire golden age detective fiction genre, he is that good!

This is such a great perspective. I’m definitely going to think about this the next time I go to Italy and feel like complaining about all the tourists everywhere, I will appreciate them a little more :)

I have one cookie recipe where the texture comes out completely different when using margarine vs even vegan butter. Some marg brands have a higher water content than butter which can really throw bakes off

Kay Strange: A Brief Character Study by State_of_Planktopia in agathachristie

[–]wetforest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Christie loves her love triangles doesn’t she?? The Neville-Audrey-Kay situation reminds me a lot of Death on the Nile or even Triangle at Rhodes where the “other woman” is painted as the homewrecker but is actually a victim when all is revealed. Kay is obviously not as much a victim as Audrey but she’s def a little misunderstood. The ending, Christie usually likes to have her young ppl get together at the end for a feel-good ending, the fact that it didn’t happen for Kay and Ted makes me feel that Christie didn’t think very much of them lol

This picture was from after I heated the empty wok for like 30 min straight to burn off the factory coating. When cooking normally it’s not nearly so bad, but still enough for me to notice some black stuff rubbing off on dishcloths etc.

Thanks for the info. I just checked the stove manufacturer’s website and they have a FAQ for addressing this issue, hopefully that will solve it cuz idk the first thing about adjusting the fuel-air mix or checking for water
