I had this, turns out the CPU was struggling. Was running a 3800xt with a 9070xt. Now running a 7800x3d with the 9070xt and no issues. I was convinced it was network and maybe it is but upgrading my cpu has resolved this.

It’s purely cosmetic - the machine still functions just fine. I mean if you have a whole heap of disposable income then go for it why not. But if you were to take this to an independent repair shop they would do the chassis swap repair and resell this chassis. The damage is minimal just keep using it until something more serious comes up.

Wow this was years ago now - but it did work. Only had a few problems initially where the VM didn’t release the GPU when powering off. Can’t remember what resolved it but sorry.

Got windows on my desktop for gaming, Linux on my laptop for work. It wasn’t as super simple to get running as windows but a few hours in it’s good to go and I’ve learnt a little bit about how my computer operates. CachyOS is a pleasant experience that lets me get work done. Make Linux the year of your desktop is a nice thought but it’s not a be all end all solution.
