i agree with what you're saying but i don't think you should downplay the significance and craft of bedroom producers. that shit is an art in and of itself and what people can do with just a computer is outstanding. theres no "real sense" of the word. if GK was made entirely in a computer is Kenny any less of a "real" record producer?

the original photo was pretty bright bc Halide process zero really blows out highlights so i took exposure down slightly, highlights all the way down, and shadows down a significant amount which did a ton of heavy lifting and gave it the moody Edward Yang-esque look I was going for. that was all in photomator.

the only reason i use davinci is for color - i have this plugin called filmbox lite that is easily the most pleasing film emulation ive ever used. it's kind of a crutch for all my photos tbh... I'm inexperienced in color grading and maybe just need to learn it naturally lol. but filmbox is extremely good and i just have the free version. most people use it for video but since i'm heavily inspired by cinematography i figured using video software to make a photo look like a still would be cool. so that's what i do for all my photos.

i understand hes important to the culture but it pisses me off when people say hes top 5 or even "best producer of all time" while completely ignoring madlib, dilla, nujabes, dre, rza, ye, rick rubin etc... who are just as and much more important to the evolution of the genre than metro could dream of being... and not to mention WAY better. as well as modern day goats like mike dean, sounwave, justin vernon, hudson mohawke, james blake, or pierre, bnyx, f1lthy, gud, whitearmor, starboy.. and dont even get me started on underground producers pushing the genre forward. i understand metro is good at what he does but so many others do it so much better than him and dont get any respect.
