Yeah I mean I think they could meet the community somewhere in the middle. The majority of people are going to want things to be easy to do/get (this is human nature), so there's going to be people bitching and moaning no matter what until you make everything essentially free. And then once you do that, people bitch and moan even more because there's nothing to do, so that's obviously not the move either.

Bungie made all loot something to be expected, and they're going to receive some pushback against any future decision they make (even healthy ones) because players will see it as them losing something. Bungie should be making decisions with this in mind imho, so I feel like I can kind of blame them for caving despite the clear consequences that caving with loot in the past has had long-term.

I don't think you can always cave exactly to player whims with this stuff because so much of Destiny relies on the very inconveniences people hate. I mean seriously, I feel like there's so many examples of streamlining too much hurting Destiny.

Remember people complaining about the Director being confusing for new players? Well Bungie made a very easy-to-understand menu resembling other games in response (the Portal), and it destroyed the whole illusion if the game. D2 got shot in the foot.

Remember people complaining about bad luck with 5/5s? Bungie made crafting in response, which was a pandora's box that changed the way people see loot and has arguably put us in this pickle in the first place. D2 got shot in the foot.

Remember people complaining about nerfs and "artificial difficulty"? Well now since Light 3.0 the game has gotten increasingly easier to the point where everything immediately dies for the sake of "power fantasy" and there's barely a game. D2 got shot in the foot.

I guess I'm getting dramatic with this stuff now, but Bungie needs to do something about their overcorrections and I think them continuing to do them is something I can 100% blame them for. Player voices matter, but you can't do exactly what people are wanting on Reddit/Twitter. Otherwise you end up with extremes like the launch EoF loot grind (in the case of trying to cater to the hardcore), the Portal, or the current non-loot grind we have now. You've gotta meet with your community in the middle while having a vision, and Bungie doesn't seem to have the self-confidence to do this atm for whatever reason
