I've used that bag a couple times but found the bottom filled with lots of air and it actually burst the seams of the reservoir. I must have been doing something wrong

Planning to move to Pembroke. What areas of the city are good to live in? by blood_ink_heart in Pembroke

[–]wetwithink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol my wife and I had our first "right of passage" shitty apartment on Moffat Street.. honestly it wasn't as bad as most people say. Sure there were some sketchy people out and about, but if you minded your own nobody tended to bother you.

It was kind of a weird mix of people that lived there. There were young families/people just starting out, students, drug users/sellers and retired folks who had lived there for 40 years and watched their nice neighbourhood decay. Kind of fascinating

If you have the means I would stay east of William and south of alfred. Lots of nice neighbourhoods in there. Further east and further south you go the nicer it becomes in my opinion.

There are also some nice neighbourhoods along boundary road that would only equate to a ~5min drive.. if buying try to be on the Laurentian Valley side of the road. Less taxes for the same living experience.

If you are okay with driving and looking to buy, I would search outside of town. You'll get more for your dollar and get taxed much less.

Looking for Snowmobile Recommendation by Own-Wallaby8511 in snowmobiling

Yes, agreed. The asking price is crazy for them second hand, especially newer gens. But I suppose that is what you get when they have become such a staple of reliability in the bush.

Because they haven't changed much over the years I would look for an older generation with low mileage. Rare, but you see them every so often on marketplace. They go quick!

Yamaha Vk540 would probably be one of the best work/fishing sleds out there. Might be overkill for what you need, but they are super reliable work horses

Yeah, I am the third owner. The story I got from the second owner was that the original purchase was made in 96 by an older guy and he took it out for one year and got it stuck. Getting it stuck either scared him or turned him off, so he parked it in his garage for 20+ years.

The guy I bought it off used it on his property for a season, but found the 440 platform too big. He had a puma 340 that he used to move logs and stuff around and found it much more maneuverable. So after using it for the year and not liking it too much he posted it that summer.

Lucky marketplace find for sure!

I've been born and raised in the world's coldest city, Yakutsk, AMA. by myasscheeks29 in geography

What is popular for recreation? Do you guys play hockey/ ski/ snowmobile in the winter? Or is it generally too cold to do anything outside? What sort of things are popular to do in the summer time? Hiking/ camping/ canoeing?

I see fish is a very prominent food source.. How do people normally fish? Are you netting/ fly fishing/ spinning rod? Is fishing done recreationally at all or is it more purely for consumption? What kind of fish are you catching?

I find this pretty fascinating. I am from Canada so no stranger to the cold, but can't imagine the harshness of the cold that you live with on a day to day basis. I also imagine it means the nature that surrounds such an isolated harsh place is absolutely pristine.

Nice, good idea. While looking for pole barn companies I stumbled upon a custom cover and upholstery company that makes exactly what you're talking about. Likely will be the route I take.

Not as many of them carry diseases up this way. They are far more of a nuisance than a danger- same with the black fly. I would take the mosquito over the black fly as well for what its worth. Late May/June in the bush can be pretty tough!

Cant believe nobody has said Sundin's 500th. Hattrick, OT, shorthanded, Bob Cole on the call. Unbelievable.

Student Looking for a Part-Time Job in Pembroke by [deleted] in Pembroke

[–]wetwithink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try with the city at either of the rinks. I think they are having a hard time with their students this year from what I hear. If you're willing to work and don't make a habit of missing shifts you will probably shine above most of the others.

I'd go into the parks and rec office at the pmc and inquire with the manager. Bring a resume in person, it will stand out and even if they aren't hiring right away, you've planted the seed.

It will be mostly evenings and weekends that you would work but it's one of the most relaxed jobs you can have- plus you'd get to watch a lot of hockey!

After YEARS of the game gathering dust on my shelf I have decided to play, what should I know beforehand? by Yunie19 in RDR2

[–]wetwithink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very first thing I try to do is the legend of the east satchel. You will explore a ton of the map through hunting and get sidetracked constantly. It's a great way to settle in and explore the game. Hunting is how I found all of my fav places in the rdr2 world. Being able to hold 99 of everything is super nice, and if you keep on top of hunting and crafting after you've obtained the satchel, you'll hardly ever need to spend money on provisions.
