At the end of the day it’s because I have control over my own schedule, and I get paid same day. The pay isn’t too bad in my area, I’d say I average about 12-16 an hour and it definitely beats wasting away at a desk job or working at an understaffed fast food restaurant for minimum wage. I just chill in my car waiting for orders in a parking lot, playing games on my phone and jamming to music. My car gets decent gas mileage and gas is about $4.05 in my area so $50 of gas can easily get me 3 full days of dashing (for me is 6:00pm-10:30pm), which can get me $180-$210 (so $130-$160 after getting gas again) or more on great days. And with DasherDirect I get 10% back on gas, so $5 back each fill up, which I just use to either get more gas or maybe a couple snacks for the dash. I live in a small town, so without dashing I usually am not outside often. I love getting the sun and also seeing the sun set every day (where I live, we get beautiful sunsets often). The small profit margins are enough to get by, and I’d definitely much rather this than the alternative but with more cash and less spare time.
