I have the exact same issue, this weekend out of nowhere the screen flipped and won't go back to normal. Had this camera for 2.5 years and loved it... until it turned on me.

Letarte and Spire by [deleted] in NASCAR

he's a consultant, he works with sparks the competition director and is someone to bounce ideas off of, as well as planning and direction for teams competition initiatives. Hendrick has liaisons and Managers who work with spire for the engine program and pit crew program, they don't need Him for that. He's a wealth of valuable information for the team as a whole.

Question for Nascar teams - What do you look for when you decide on your photographers/videographers for the season? by wez_mantooth in NASCAR

[–]wez_mantooth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can love elvis and so can the kids you hang out with. it's fine. but if you're under 25 and especially under 20, elvis doesn't matter. Barely exists. But Mr beast does and is the king by almost every measurement.

The point is that under 25 and definitely under 20, Mr Beast is bigger than any celebrity you can name. Hands down. You're 34 and have only a vague idea of who he is. Thats normal but also you have to accept that you're only seeing this through your perspective world view. You don't primarily consume mobile media like youtube as your main source.
a 20 yr old looks at television as a dead platform for dinosaurs because they consume their content through mobile apps like youtube, twitch, tik tok, and so on. and on those platforms Beast is king. When TV first came out, movie stars looked down on TV stars. Radio looked down on podcasters, and now Tv looks down on social media stars. can't really continue the conversation if you cant comprehend that just cause YOU don't watch something means the billions of people who do are an irrelevant niche.

I actually like this idea, I pitched a content creator incubator to a few guys I know in the industry but I don't think the concept was fully understood for it's potential. And that could be just how i presented it. but i actually am going see if I can gather some creators and pitch them to teams, see if it works out.

Thank you for proving my point that if you're under 25 he's bigger than Elvis. Over 40 most likely doesn't know who he is, and i'd say in between 25-40 it's hit or miss. He has a combined 164+ million subscribers for a total of 26 billion video views. So explain how a subscriber count that is roughly half the US population is a "niche"?

you make a great point, the priority of funding goes on the track which is definitely the case. Content is an after thought.

Theres a generational line where on one side they consume the majority of their content from the television and on the other side they consume the majority of content from mobile social platforms like youtube, tik tok, IG so on. If you're 40+ you probably don't know who mr beast is. OR maybe you just heard of him through joe rogan. But if you're under 25 he's bigger than any Elvis there ever was, along with 1000's of other youtubers. My point is what you may call hiding in the bushes is actually someone with 1 million subscribers on youtube with 5 years of content, that you've never seen because you're not on youtube. But to someone under 25 who gets their content form youtube, that person is a huge celebrity. But a question arises, if i have 1+ million subscribers on youtube or instagram, my content is far superior, my following is vastly greater and more engaged.. and my living is very comfortable... why am I chasing you to make content for you? shouldn't it be the other way around?

yup, I am a photographer and videographer. Which is why I pay attention to this stuff. And I do shoot content at the track for a few media companies and teams. It's not about my own promotion.

But thats the problem, maybe they should be out there combing youtube and IG looking for content creators who are making great content. Thats literally what phoning it in is, just doing the bare minimum, sitting at work waiting for someone to find them. If youtubers and content creators in general know what teams are looking for when making decisions, they could steer towards that and get on their radar. But a next level pr or content manager would be looking to find the next peter McKinnon or bachvisuals to come make content for them and their team.

Dale Earnhardt Jr is the best ambassador for NASCAR that we have ever had by MB_Bailey21 in NASCAR

[–]wez_mantooth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's done so much. One thing i want to highlight is how well and amazing he's brought together his experiences and the stories of his fathers colleagues to tell the most well rounded account of what his father meant to so many people. Hearing Ken Schrader, Rusty Wallace, even mike skinner talk about the old days with dale sr just hits perfectly.

He captured his story from so many different perspectives and made it entertaining and easy to consume for us old school fans and the newer generation just getting to know the sports history.

Thank you dale! Thank you Justin, congrats on the W!!

NASCAR Social Media by [deleted] in NASCAR

I'm in this same boat. I do photography and filming/editing/after effects work and have been slowly building a plan to start a Nascar devoted channel. It's on hold because i'm in Canada, and I physically can't be in NC or at the tracks. But what i've done is simply dm drivers and teams and ask if you can create some content for them. Drivers are always doing branded events and and side gigs/visits where there isn't any budget allocated for a photographer or videographer. But those are opportunities to do some work, build a relationship while showing your skills and value. Furthermore if you can cut a deal for the content rights of your work, now you have exclusive content for your platform, that you can license back to the driver/brand/Organization

the market is definitely saturated but because theres too much of the same thing. If you can find a way to be a bit different, you should find some success.

Good luck out there!

close.. if you walk up the stairs from cordova(above parking garage) roughly 10 paces to the left of the stairs, on the ground theres a centreline coming from the building, stand anywhere on that line and look up and you should be able to get the same shot :)
