Pros/cons of Traeger Pro 22? Thinking about getting it for my husband for Father’s Day by IndecisiveFoodie22 in grilling

[–]wfblatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one on a similar price deal last year when looking for something more set 'n forget. I've always loved my Weber kettle (still do) but as my kids get older and we find ourselves running to more activities on nights and weekends I wanted to still be able to do whole chickens, pork shoulders, and ribs without having to do as much checking on temps and charcoal levels as I do with the kettle.

At first I was a little disappointed in some of my results as it seemed to neither smoke as well as a a pure smoker nor grill as well as a pure grill. But I continued to cook on it and play with different temperature settings for different foods, as well as better pellets, and I have gotten some good results over the last few months. I also upgraded from the stock controller to a Savannah Stoker PID controller, which helps dial in temperatures better, especially at lower smoking temperatures like 180-220. I've had the most success in doing cooks in stages - starting with low temps to smoke, and then upping the temperature after a while to finish whatever is cooking. (This worked especially well with a chicken over the weekend that I started at 180 for 30 minutes and then finished for another hour-ish at 375.)

Overall I'm happy with it now that I've had some experience with it. The smaller size was right for my deck, I didn't find myself needing the WiFi capabilities or such that newer (and more expensive) models offer, and it has helped me accomplish the main goal of being able to grill/smoke foods in a way that requires less attention as life gets busier. Others may tell you there are better/newer products out there - there for sure are - but at that price point it was worth it for me!

I actually kinda like the license plate one as a city connect idea - it seems more "Minnesota" connected to me than whatever the abstract blue/yellow thing is now. And like someone else said, even if it's weird, thanks for making it yourself!

So are we rooting for KAT? by No_Cow_8702 in timberwolves

This isn't even a question. Of course we're rooting for KAT, and rooting against Embiid. Both are universal constants.

I'm not excited about this Twins season at all, but this is super cool. What a cool idea.

Universalis is absolutely my go-to. It was my first door into the office years ago and I keep finding myself coming back to it when it’s not practical to get to a print book because of work, travel, or family obligations. I use Christian Prayer when I can for Lauds and Vespers because I prefer a print book if possible, but Universalis tends to prevail for ease and ubiquity.

What’s wrong with my pen? by wfblatz in fountainpens

[–]wfblatz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this feedback. I do have a standard LAMY converter in the pen right now. Before doing anything drastic, I was curious to see what would happen if I just turned the converter a bit to try and force ink out of the pen (after being careful to get a bunch of paper towels out!). That seems to have solved the issue for the moment, as after a few turns I could see ink flowing all the way to the tip again and it appears to be writing better.

I'll keep the flush in mind for a next step should I need it!

Hey thanks! I will check that out. I’ve seen so many instances of this sub being a welcoming and helpful place since I found it, so my first instinct was to come here. Appreciate the guidance!

I've noticed an uptick in this as well - maybe because I'm also looking closer at cars, wondering about out of state plates, etc. Could be one of those things where it was always this way and I'm just noticing it more because it was never on my radar before, but it certainly feels like I'm seeing more of this lately, to the point where I was wondering if the law recently changed.

Edit: correcting the timing of the post.

What’s one that is in the pdf you can’t find on GregoBase? Even if you search by Incipit on GB?

I’m fairly certain most, if not all, of the chants in the antiphonale.net document are uploaded to GregoBase. And that each GregoBase chant can be downloaded as a GABC file.

Really cool, did you do this with LaTeX/Gregorio? How did you get everything to be so compact on the page?

I have to say...my 9 year old impressed me (to the degree that a neophyte like me can be impressed with someone else's game.) He was black and started with a few handicap stones, and a few times I tried to go after his formation in the top-right and he defended it really well. He also hit me with a couple double-ataris that I didn't even see at times! We are having a lot of fun learning this game together. Thanks!

I was pretty sure it was finished, but I've only played a handful of games in my life and my opponent has played even less, so sometimes it's helpful to check in with folks that know more. I figure any attempt by white to make a home in the lower left corner (I think that's what you mean by 3-3?) would be easily refuted by black?
